Two and a Broke Men ~ Jinki & Gunil
“Well.” That is very sad news, Gunil concludes, putting a halt on the pointless walking by leaning in against Jinki, resting his arm on his friend’s shoulder to eat his half of the churro. “Then you are completely useless as a friend.” You got to understand that the way Gunil uses his light sarcasm should be interpreted as a sign of friendship.
What’s the point of having a chef for a friend if you can’t get food everywhere? Yes, that’s not how the world works but he’s frustrated because they should have been having fun at the roller coaster by now, damn it! “Hm, but…” Letting out an annoyed sigh, Gunil just stole Jinki’s other half of the churro and ate it too, with the most casual of tones. “At least you got me a churro.”
“Hey!” Now that was just uncalled for. Forgetting his wallet, Jinki could forgive--and not just because he’d done the same thing--but taking food right out of his hand? That was just rude. The cook pouted at his friend and stuck his tongue out at him. Well, now that he’d had a literal taste of something sweet, he was definitely hungry.
“There’s a 7-11 over there. Wanna grab some snacks? You owe me dessert.” At least that! Preferably more but he wouldn’t push. Gunil only had a little bit of cash, but the other had also filled up on churro. Between that and his card balance, Jinki definitely had enough to get at least a snack.
it’s still hard for him to believe it sometimes, that he has such good friends that is. sonam knows he has it in him, the ability to make friends and the good spirit to talk to people and want to get to know them, but sometimes he gets back to that place inside that auditorium, seeing all those faces laughing at him and then he remembers - oh, that’s why he doesn’t try that often.
and then there’s jinki, who would wake up in the middle of the night and cook for him. yes, that’s what friends are for, right? “thank you.” but there, there, sonam can’t get emotional over fried rice, jesus christ - he laughs instead, flicking off rice from jinki’s chin with his finger. “i know i say that every time but i really think you should get a haircut.”
“You’re welcome.” Honestly, it wasn’t that big of a deal. He’d take a nap the next day during downtime and he would be ready to go for the dinner hour. Still, it was nice of his friend to be so appreciative of the gesture, even if Jinki had been a little (or more than a little) tired and grumpy at the beginning of it all. He wasn’t a night person, okay?
He looked up at the hair that was over his eyebrows and dipping into his vision in places. When he was cooking, he could just toss it up under a hat but when he was asleep, that just wouldn’t work. It would definitely fall off during the night, right? There was no way it could last until the morning unless it was a beanie or something and that would get really hot. “I guess? But then I’d have to decide what to do with it and I have no idea what’d look good.”
How do we nightclub?
with @jinkimg
Every two seconds Minseok pokes Jinki on his ribs to show something amazing about that nightclub life. This time, he is just mesmerized with the fact that his drink glows in the dark? Must be some heavy science.
Jinki and Minseok have been friends forever, through thick and thin, and Minseok’s life tends for the thin, majorly. You can say that both of them are not the clubbing type just by the way they look lost among the sea of people. Minseok is attached to Jinki’s arm using his friend as a human shield, but despite that Minseok was smiling the whole time.
It’s different, it’s something new. That place is huge, loud, colorful - the literal opposite of his quiet, small house. He is not sure about the dancing part (people are throwing some crazy moves there), but he can feel the electricity of fun starting to run in his veins. It could also be the drink that blinks, though.
“This place is awesome!” He is bouncing on his feet, yelling on Jinki’s ear because the loud music makes him feel partially deaf. “What is that thing over there, is that a cage?!"
Jinki was relatively certain that this was how the ornaments felt on the tree during Christmas-time. There was lights and music everywhere and the boy couldn’t take his eyes off it. Thankfully his friend was holding onto his arm to keep him from wandering off and getting swallowed up by the throbbing crowd. The dance floor almost seemed to be moving and it’s absolutely mesmerizing.
“It’s great!” Hopefully that was the right response. He’d only realized halfway through the sentence that Minseok was speaking. It was rather hard to hear in this place, but he was doing the best he could. His friend needed to not speak so softly sometimes. Was he even speaking softly? Jinki wasn’t sure. He turned his attention to where the other was indicating, squinting through the bight lights. It really did look like a cage. Why would they have a cage?
“I think it is a cage? It’s hard to see. Wanna go check it out?” He was more than a little curious about all this. He’d never actually been to a club despite there being so many around. The only reason he was even out this late was that the restaurant was closed for a couple days for renovations. Normally, he turned into a pumpkin at ten.
“It won’t kill me~” And yet he opened his mouth to welcome in the warm food. Ooh, that had actually turned out well despite the fact that he wasn’t actually awake when he made it. He also wasn’t awake now either, but he was slowly getting alert enough to at least communicate with the other boy. Mostly anyway.
“Oh, don’t worry about it! What are friends for?” He knew that Sonam would do the same for him. Well, not cook. The other boy would definitely keep the store open for him if he needed an outfit for some special occasion or something. Then again, he never actually went out to anything fancy. Most of the places he went, a t-shirt and jeans worked just fine.
Two and a Broke Men ~ Jinki & Gunil
Gunil is someone fun to walk with. Near the amusement park, there are lots of people, kids, food trucks and lots of stuff two stupid forgetful men can do. Gunil interacts with kids like a goofball making those tiny humans laugh.
Ten minutes into walking around and Gunil is holding a heart balloon floating above his head.
“Jinki, don’t you have some kind of chef privilege that allows you to have free ice cream whenever or anything? This should be a thing.” The blonde is squinting his eyes under the sun heat, feeling the top of his head boil.
Since Gunil is playing with the kids, he has no problem chasing a couple of them around, letting them laugh at him when he falls down on his butt. The parents laugh as well so he does too. What’s the point in being uptight when something really is funny?
He gently bops at the other boy’s balloon, watching it wobble against the bright blue sky. Only at that point did he realize that he probably should have brought sunglasses. Oops. Well, one day wasn’t going to hurt, right??
“I wish! I mean, sometimes we do food exchanges with other shops but all of these are too far away for us to trade with. I don’t think I know any of them.” Still, he waved at a particularly sad-looking old woman who brightened up at the gesture. She also offered him a free churro which he broke in half and handed the other part to his friend.
“i’m sure it’s fine” and he tweezed bits of the food with the chopsticks, watching jinki with eager eyes as he chewed. “hum!” and there it is, the universal sound of approval. now sonam can finally kill the hunger that is killing him instead.
he didn’t talk much while nomming on his food because he just can’t waste precious eating time with pointless things such as talking to one of his best friends, okay? he is hungry. but eventually, between one mouthful and the other, he looks at jinki again. “i’m sorry you’re just standing there watching me eat…”
Clearly his friend liked the food. He smiled at the other boy before folding his arms and resting his head on them. Tiredness was beginning to catch up to him but he didn’t want to just leave his friend in the kitchen. Also, someone needed to turn off the lights when they were finished and the switches were on the way back upstairs. No sense in Sonam trying to make his way out in the dark.
“It’s fine. I like watching people eat. It’s making me hungry though...” Surprise, surprise. It did smell good though. Maybe he’d make himself some the next morning for a snack. Or he could get off his butt and go get something out of the fridge. What did they have? He began going through the list of leftovers in his head. Right, they’d had too much pasta but not enough for a meal. There was enough for a snack though, and he didn’t mind eating it cold, so he snagged the container out of the fridge and pulled out a set of chopsticks from his cup of cooking utensils.
Matchmake.

Even though he had no idea why she was laughing, or even what was actually going on, Jinki laughed as well. His eyes crinkled up to narrow crescents as he smiled at his friend. He was apparently getting a break for a while and wasn’t about to complain about that! He was also not about to complain about free food in any capacity.
“Are you sure? I can pay you back later.” He could pay his own way. Stella didn’t have to buy anything for him, but he wasn’t going to make her insist more than once. They were close enough that he knew once the girl set her mind to something, she went for it with no holds barred. “Yep, you’re the only one who’s allowed to kidnap me~”
Well, this wasn’t the scary place she’d made it out to be. The boy followed his friend to the table and sat down. Of course he stood back up when she did though. “Everything here is good! So pick what looks the most delicious~” He was about to add ‘and cheapest’ but thought better of it.
“Alright then, you sit here and I’ll be back soon,” she dug through the bag to retrieve her wallet and then left for the counter. Stella returned with a tray not long after. She set a plate of chiffon cake in front of him and beside it, a cup of warm macchiato. “I hope these are okay. Had such a hard time choosing honestly. You were right everything here seems good.” She then rested a small fork on the edge of the plate, a silent invitation for him to enjoy the treat.
For herself, Stella chose a blueberry cheesecake along with hot chocolate. She sat down and began to savour the dessert. “Would you like to try some of mine?” The offer came after eyeing his chiffon cake which surprisingly looked delectable. Stella was not a fan of such cakes since they were too spongy for her liking. However, watching him eat it somehow caused her to view chiffon cake in a new light. “Because I’d really like to try yours,” she admitted, biting back a shy grin.
“Okay~” She wasn’t gone long but he made use of the time to look around and enjoy the fact that the people making long, complicated orders were not talking to him. It was a surprisingly liberating feeling. When his friend came back, he stood up to help her but by the time he got himself untangled from his chair, it was already set on the table so he sat back down. “Everything is good~”
Once Stella started eating, he did the same. The cake was soft and light and oh so yummy. This was the kind of thing he couldn’t make if his life depended on it, so he always enjoyed when he had a chance to eat it. When the girl offered a bite of hers, he was hesitant to accept, just because he wasn’t sure if she was just trying to be polite or if she actually wanted to share. But when she admitted the reason, he laughed as he cut her off a slab and set it on the side of her plate. “I’d love to try some of yours! I don’t think I’ve had that yet~”
He was relatively certain that she hadn’t invited him here just to steal his cake, but he’d focus on the food for now.

Red tresses bunched up behind her nape as she threw her head back, giving out a laugh. The confusion written on his face was beyond priceless. His facial expressions never failed to tickle her insides. It made him adorable in Stella’s eyes. Jinki was such an effortless joker at times, and he most likely was not aware of it.
“Why are you worried about your wallet… it’s my treat!” Stella assured. That was her main intention of ‘kidnapping’ him out of the blue anyway, to prevent him from fetching his wallet. Because she knew him well enough, he would insist on paying. “Just follow me and I’ll make sure you return to your mom in one piece. I’m the best kidnapper you can ever ask for, really.”
“I hope you like dessert.” That was the only hint she offered to him with a wiggle of her eyebrows. She kept the chef in suspense, no more clues given, until they arrived at their destination, Corée. Stepping in, the young female chose a cosy spot at the far end corner. She set her bag down on a chair but remained standing. “What would you like? I’ll go order for us both.”
Even though he had no idea why she was laughing, or even what was actually going on, Jinki laughed as well. His eyes crinkled up to narrow crescents as he smiled at his friend.
