btw this isnât the extent of the horrors white supremacists will enact. the real horrors will start as they return to their communities with the high of having broken into the fucking capitol with guns and bombs and having been protected by the police and the president. the real horrors will be enacted on poc and Black ppl specifically now that white supremacists know they can do whatever the fuck they want with guaranteed protection, they will not be enacted on congressmen. itâs not your politicians you have to worry about. pelosi will be just fine.
Her name is Berlinda Nibo. She was walking home when the mob started yelling insults, threats and calling her the n-word. When she responded to them, âthey pushed her around, smacked her, snatched her wig from her head, and at one point, pepper-sprayed her, she said. Nibo said she believes the crowd would have tried to kill her had it not been for a man who stepped in to shield her before she was carried away.â
This is a hate crime. The man in the photo was not helping her, he yelled at her and assaulted her with the rest of the fascists. She was almost murdered by those. sick freaks. They all deserve to be hung.

i noticed i misread the gofundme total, itâs $10k not $100k, but you should still donate to her if you can. i canât imagine the hell sheâs going through.
police literally dragged disabled protestors out of the capitol when they were doing a sit-in for healthcare and teargassed + shot blm protestors marching for human rights but try to deescalate and take selfies w armed insurrectionists and people still want to act like the police donât exist specifically to enforce oppressive systems
So I'll cut to the chase on this since a lot of people are dying, drowning, and screaming for help in Cagayan and Isabela, Philippines. A lot of them have also been stranded and are standing on their rooftops as we speak.
I'm here to post a collection of donation drives that I've gathered online. If we can't help them physically, we can at least make sure they have monetary assistance, food and clothing once they're evacuated.
This is how Cagayan looks, from recent photos (not mine)
TW: screams and shouts for help
HOW TO HELP
DONATION DRIVES
Please feel free to add on this post for any other ways to help.
For context:
The Philippines has been hit by three consecutive typhoons this month alone: Quinta, Rolly (Goni internationally) and Ulysses. It's been hitting nearly the same areas, which has made them even more vulnerable now that they're still recovering from the previous typhoons. Our mountain ranges couldn't shield us from this due to heavy quarrying and deforestation.
That said, these aren't the only places in need of assistance. But these are the places in urgent need of help. And we're trying to do as best as we can with what little we have.
I'll update this post from time to time for full transparency.

I'm going to scream. They really said "we broke into your apartment, killed your girlfriend and bc you shot at us in self defense, we're suing you."
Meanwhile you have old white men talking about how they'll shoot anyone who steps anywhere near their property and it's alright. It's fine if white man threatens to shoot anyone who pisses him off. But if a black person tries to use a gun in self defense, suddenly having a gun will get you in trouble?

DO NOT MAIL IN YOUR BALLOTS ANYMORE.
TAKE THEM TO A LEGITIMATE DROPBOX,
OR TAKE THEM TO THE BALLOT OFFICE.
Several states have ruled that, even if theyâre postmarked by election day, they wonât count votes that come in afterward (yes, this is voter suppression.  No, we donât have time fight it by election day)
If youâre voting by mail, TAKE THEM TO THE BALLOT OFFICE OR A LEGITIMATE DROPBOX!
full offense but i need intimacy soon or iâll collapse maybe

Hey so friendly reminder about voting and elections that I havenât seen going around yet but is SUPER IMPORTANT.
Watch what you wear and say while youâre waiting in line for the voting booth/at the polls. It is against federal law to do anything that might be considered campaigning once youâre there, and since we know that voter suppression is the name of the game this election, there will be people looking for ANY reason to remove you from the polling place. And they will nitpick. You have a shirt with a artistic picture of donkey on it? Youâre visibly supporting the Democrats, youâre disqualified from voting. Want to wear a Black Lives Matter shirt? Not there you donât. Theyâll call it intimidation and kick you out. Pins, buttons, stickers, none of it. Wear the most bland, plain clothes you can imagine.Â
And then keep your mouth shut. Even the slightest hint of discussion about which candidate youâre voting for can get used against you. Donât assume the people around you are safe to discuss it with. You might be overheard. There WILL people watching for these things, hoping to get rid of anyone they can. Voter suppression isnât just about making registration impossible. It happens at the polling stations too. Be smart, be bland, be quiet, and make sure your vote gets in.Â
Also- and I have seen this mentioned but it bears repeating- DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR BALLOT. EVER. Itâll also disqualify your vote. Take a selfie when youâre out of their with your fun little sticker.Â

Isnât it weird how you can actually feel the pain in your chest and stomach when something really hurts your feelings
This is actually because it activates your vagus nerve! Basically your body goes âwe are so upset! We must be injured! Where???? On the inside guts! Those are confusing and hard to differentiate!!! Confusing guts are hurt!â
Great! How do I uninstall it?
âgreat! how do i uninstall it?â carries the same vibe as âthanks! i hate itâ but more ACTIONABLE bc we gettin our shit together in 2k18
I feel like this would be a slippery slope towards making it illegal for people to choose to not vote.
thatâs already how it is in australia
Thatâs just so fucked up. :( Do certain medical conditions exempt you?
?????? why is it be fucked up to have compulsory voting? thatâs the way it is in most democratic countries? itâs a part of being a citizen, like paying taxes and obeying speed limits? the fine for not voting is only like $50 and because of the compulsory voting law, our country bends over backwards to make it accessible: itâs always on a weekend, lasts most of the day, and is set up at schools and community centers so thereâs one within easy reach of almost everybody. you can also mail your ballot or vote early if youâll be out of the country on the day. like, ITâS EASY TO VOTE, and the penalty isnât even that ridiculous. i donât understand why the usa doesnât have this, except obviously it would make it harder to literally stop minorities from voting.
I think we Americans tend to forget that a lot of other countries donât actively work to make it harder to vote.
Adding to this here, in Australia you donât have to vote. Or, more precisely, thereâs no way they can tell if you ruined your ballot. You have to turn up, get your name marked off, but you can put a line through the ballot if you donât think any of the candidates are worth voting for. Or do this:Â
Or this:Â
Or this:Â
You have get your name crossed off (if you donât want to wear the fine), but you donât have to make your vote counted if youâre opposed to it.Â
And it is so, so easy to vote. Stuck at work or on holidays? Thatâs fine. Do a postal vote. Â Stuck in hospital? Thatâs fine. Theyâll go to you. Stuck in an old peopleâs home and canât get around? Again, theyâll go to you. Itâs amazing to me that itâs so hard for so many Americans to actually vote. If you make it compulsory, than at least the government is obligated to provide you with the means to vote.Â
And look, I get it. Sometimes I donât want to vote either. But I suck it up, I walk three minutes down the street, and I hope that this year theyâre selling lamingtons again. Oh, and I buy a democracy sausage, which, even if all the candidates suck, makes the effort of turning up pretty worthwhile.Â
ALSO, you can see even on the fucked up ballots that you NUMBER CANDIDATES IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE. Thereâs no need to calculate whether I would be throwing away my vote on the candidate that I most agree with if theyâre not from a major party. I can say, I want that independent person to get in, but if not them, give me Big Party A, and if not them, that minor party person is still better that Big Party B, and Iâm not giving any preference to the Lunatic Fringe Party.
Our system certainly has some issues still, but I can show up to somewhere nearby, line up for a few minutes (if at all), vote exactly in line with my values (on paper, leaving a paper trail that can be recounted), and then buy a sausage and some home made cupcakes on my way out.
A countryâs voting system matters a hell of a lot and every citizen deserves one that makes it easy to vote and results in a government that is representational and accountable.
And by the way, one time I had a bad asthma flare-up on Election Day and didnât make it to my polling station. I got my fine in the mail, I filled out the form explaining why I couldnât vote, no more fine. I would rather have, you know, expressed my preference for who should run my country, but they were cool with the fact that I couldnât do it that day.
âoh no, what if people actually have to participate in picking the government officials who will impact their livesâ jesus christ
For the last time, for everyone who still doesnât understand: not voting is not a tool of resistance, itâs a tool of surrender.
The voting system in the USA is sooooooo fucked up, and the worst part is that they think itâs normal.
No pal, that shitâs fucked up.
Theyâre worried about c o m p u l s o r y  v o t i n g.
Like, seriously? That is your major concern?
âŠand itâs a multi-layered cake of awful. Not only âvoting registrationâ, butâŠ
* The paperwork for voting registration isnât always simple, especially for poor people with low education.
* Peole with a felony (*any* felony) get disenfranchised (meaning, you can lose your right to vote for pretty dumb stuff⊠like âresisting arrestâ at a protest. Say. For example.)
* After you are disenfranchised that way, it can be really hard to get your voting rights back. Say you did your 6 months on parole, but you still have a 3.000 bucks fine to pay for âProcess Expensesâ (obviously they are charged on you). In some states (Florida, for example) you have to pay all your extant fines before you can get your voting rights back. Easy to see how this translates in many people never even trying (let alone managing) to get their rights back.
* Corollary: the US has the biggest incarceration rate of the western world, buy a LOT. âWhile the United States represents about 4.4 percent of the worldâs population, it houses around 22 percent of the worldâs prisonersâ (Wikipedia). None of those can vote. The system is made so that many will stay in prison or get back to it soon after release, too. Corollary to the corollary: according to the constitution, prisoners can be enslaved. And they are.
* Historically, there have been time and again (not only under Jim Crow) laws to condition the voting registration to either a literacy test (black people would be given tests specifically devised to be super easy to get wrong) or pay a fee (again, the US have a staggering percentage of their population living below poverty level).
* In some (many?) states you have to register as affiliated to one party (this is soviet-level, honestly), for the Primaries, to be able to vote in the General Elections. Thatâs how the voting districts are easy to gerrymander, btw: politicians know with 90% accuracy how people will vote, in some districts.
* Elections are ALWAYS on a Tuesday (because of a dumb old custom), so itâs ALWAYS a workday. You are NOT entitled to time off to vote.
* Voting can take MANY HOURS, and obviously thatâs on purpose: people canât take time off from work because they can (and will) be fired â People wonât vote. Hours long queues at the polls are a hallmark of the US, btw, the rest of the world consider âI had to wait 3 minutes because the old guy before me was short sightedâ a long wait.
* Linkded to the above: polling places magically disappear from SOME areas. There are counties with big populations that only have ONE polling place or ballot dropbox. In some small towns people have to TRAVEL to another town/city to vote. The US barely have public transporation, remember. This is not by accident, itâs a deliberate voting suppression tactic.
* The Repubblican party politicians have clearly stated, time and again, since at least Reagan (possibly Nixon), that âif everybody was allowed to vote, we wouldnât win ever againâ. This is not a contested argument, and it is not a secret.
âLeaders of the Free Worldâ, my ass.
I would like to add a thing that would probably make US people even madder about it: in Italy you can have a discounted train ticket if youâre traveling to going to vote.
itâs a rule made to help students and workers that didnât change their official place of residency when they moved for work (yes, we can have an official place of residence and a place of domicile) to go voting (my residence is still officially registered at my motherâs home, but I live 200kms away).
last time I paid 10⏠for an A/R ticket would have cost me 24⏠instead.
the only thing you have to do is going to a ticket boot (the reason why Trenitalia doesnât have it as an option in their app appalls me), giving them your electoral card (that you can obtain for free at any moment in the municipal office of your place of residence) and then telling them which trains you want.
oh, and the municipal offices are alway open during elections days (in case you lost your card. it happens) which are usually on Sunday (and sometimes are extended till Monday).
so yeah, every time you call yourself the country of freedom, I feel authorized to laugh.
