Mermay 2022 Challenge #1 “Workers”. Recently old drawing of a merfish inspired by fairy shrimp - cute little guys that literally survive in puddles.
I need to post more on tumblr. I just abandoned my account to the wind 😭
Art commissions slots are open!
This is my first time trying to do art commissions, so I’ll be starting open slots at a max 10 and later see if I can handle more. I can draw both fanart, oc’s, self portraits, etc. Payment will be in USD through PayPal or Venmo!
If interested, please sign the commissions request form linked here - commission form
More info regarding requests will be in there! :D
I’m not ask active on tumblr, but you can find more of my work on insta or tiktok! INSTA | TIKTOK
Fanart of Elliot from Stardew Valley - finally finished it after weeks of it sitting in my room. I tried my best to make a good background and I’m happy with how it turned out 😊❤️
Sometimes, when I’m tired or need a break I make little diy crafts, like this little Papyrus holding Flowey.
Paps is now my desk buddy when I work - I even got him his own desk chair 😊✨😁
Flowey did break in half 5 times though…
Original artwork inspired by 2022 Year Of The Tiger. Wanted to draw a cool girly person and then got lost in the colors 💖
Bruno Madrigal because I got inspired a little too late from St. Patrick’s Day. Also his song is now stuck in my head.
Ignis later finds out they hate working in groups.
Another doodle of my oc Ignis being shy…
A revamp doodle of my elemental OC Ignis being a doof.
Trying to draw more sketches for this personal project of mine that will later be a webcomic.
Haven’t been on social media lately so here’s a blurb comic thing of something I’ve been trying.
Updating my profile pic to match my current art style, plus it’s more simple and I don’t really like my old profile :l
My life has been very messy recently and I’m currently going through big changes personally and with how I want to deal with my art from now on. Still trying to figure out how to explain myself right and I’m planning to have an update about everything tomorrow. Ya. That’s it. I don’t really know what to say I’m not that good with words
Illustration of Tiana and Naveen from the movie “Princess & The Frog” cus I love this show and they are (if not one of) my favorite Disney couple. Wholesome flawed dorks.
This actually wasn’t meant for Valentine’s Day. Just funny coincidence since I’m lazy
Illustration of Joe Gardner and his father from the PIXAR film “SOUL”. A breathtaking movie of a man who dies right as he’s about to get the music gig of his dreams, not ready to die and desperately trying to get back to his body to start living his life.
Soul, despite the heavy topics it goes through, is a movie I will and have rewatched many times. As an artist, this helped me ground myself on why I draw to begin with. To inspire love and connection. It’s really hard to live that and not just trying to. This movie is a breath of fresh air for those who need it.
Illustration of Minny and Abileen from the film “The Help”. An emotional and impactful movie that narrates the perspective of African American house maids. I highly recommend watching this if you haven’t already.
As a way to show respect to Black History Month, I’ll be drawing 12+ pieces showcasing strong movies/shows with black characters representing as main protagonists.
Art is a powerful force, especially when it comes to films. We can change so easily as people depending on who we talk to and what stories we hear. And despite the huge lack of black folk representation in the world, there’s amazing stories out there of black folk that, unintentionally or not, bring power and connection to those around them.
I hope with these drawings, we can reflect on stories of black lives that continue to mark the future. Maybe even share more stories as well.
Heya! My name’s Julie, I’m an Asian American in Portland OR and I’m an artist (specifically illustrative cartoonist). I’m new to this blog stuff, so I’m sorry in advance for my weirdness.
One of the things I’ve noticed about myself in 2022 is how awful I am when it comes talking about myself or my work as an artist. And because of that, I’m also awful when it comes connecting to art communities, artists or just other creative folk in general. I wanna blame my social anxiety or covid about it, but instead should just do something more productive.
Like actually start connecting with art people more.
It’s not much, this blog so far, but baby steps. I’m hoping to share stuff about me to ya’ll as well as make some friends along the way. Even give some resources (I very much love the idea of creating a helpful community, mostly cus the art world can be kinda traumatic.) I’m shy and an old fart when it comes to online communities, but I’m open to chat and have fun :)
And ya. That’s pretty much it. Nice to meet everyone!
Plans for this blog thingy:
- reflective posts
- artwork posts (fanart/original)
- helpful art resources+
- a place to start connecting with artists/art communities <3
