PAINTING THE SURFACE
Materials:
Plastidip
MDF board
Plywood
So after laser cutting and engrave the dine-in tray, I bought a can of plastidip for painting the surface leaving a matte white which Im really happy and impressed with the results! The material i used is made from MDF (Medium dense Fiberboard) which contains fibers of paper and wood mixed with resin compressed with high pressure of air and high temperature. It has a lesser weight than conventional tray and also sturdy enough to carry 3 items, moreover its recyclable. I was about to use perspex (acrylic sheet) but I reassured myself rom the start of the brief that I won't use any plastics, polyurethane, pvc etc that has a potential harm to our environment. The whole tray is covered in white paint with a 0.2mm engraved logo on the rhs. Im happy with the overall outcome except there are some few bubbles around the edge due to the humidity I guess and the wind.

SWISTAINABILITY: they’re slowly coming up together!
More printing today of paper bags and burger packaging. Colour is the main dominant on the packaging followed by typography, I’ve also included few quotes and tagline along the surface graphics just so it doesn’t look plain. I like how they turned out, strong colours with a Swiss feel to it. Now I just need to lasercut the tray for dine in!
What’s next:
Lasercut dine-in tray Photo shoot with the final product Process them through id and ps Create a HTML web for final outcome
There’s more stuff to do I hope I can finish it by Tuesday!
Stay tuned!
Prototype packaging for burger and fries. The packaging is simple with the use of monotone colours to reduce the waste of ink and strong use of typography. It is a fold flat packaging without any use of glue hence it’s sustainable.
What’s next: I will be printing the final tomorrow with the paper bag and the dine in tray ! Stay tuned :)
Generating ideas for a sustainable McDonalds packaging. I should be able to choose a concept idea this week for refinement and also prototyping the packaging. Stay tuned for more upcoming updates :)
So I drove down to our nearest maccas store and collect some of their packaging for analysing the materials and its functionality. Idea generation will commence this week so stay tuned :)
So after pitching our idea to the class I brainstorm ideas about sustainable packaging. I tried to focus more on fast foods as they are one of the major contributors of packaging around the world. Heres the top 5 list of biggest food chain around the world.
^ indicates the number of restaurants globally
1. McDonalds (18,710^)
2. KFC (11,798^)
3. Subway (10,109^)
4. Pizza Hut (5,890^)
5. Starbucks (5,727^)
(Facts gathered are based on Forbes.com)
OBJECTIVE: Reinventing McDonalds packaging in conjunction with my design personality to create a sustainable environment. The documentary will be called 'SWISSTAINABILITY, a pure representation of simplicity. It is to raise the awareness of environmental design through the Swiss influence.
Since Mcdonalds were the biggest company, potentially they could be one of the major contributors of waste in terms of food and packaging. Focussing on McDonalds packaging will be the main objective on my documentary. I will explore an innovative way on reducing the use of paper and ink for a sustainable packaging without loosing its identity. The packaging needs to be renewable/recycled, minimise waste for production, and quick and simple to assemble. So for the next couple of days, Ill try to get some samples of their packaging and observe how they work (functionality) and type of material the used.
WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT:
1. Observe and collect samples of Mcdonalds packaging
2. Consultation with my professor about the progress of my work and gather feedbacks from co-designers.
3. Start conceptualising packaging ideas
STAY TUNED! THERE'S MORE TO COME

SWISTAINABILITY
So I finally came up with my design documentary. I struggled for the past few days on brainstorming concept ideas, but then after we had our presentation last Friday with our prof, I finally locked in this idea and will develop it further in a couple of weeks.
I'll be documenting the future concepts of communication design through packaging and branding. This means majority materials use will be recycled paper instead of plastic, glass & metal. It will be in an illustration, sketches, or even a promotional poster, 3D rendering of prospective eco design in a publication, interactive pdf or billboard timeline.
I could potentially choose a particular company, research about their packaging and find solutions to have an environmental packaging. It is to be announce this week, so stay tuned.
Conserving our environment is extremely important such as reducing the use of paper, ink and plastics can reduce the environmental impact, resulting in less greenhouse gas emissions and a more efficient use of natural resources.

Clean card design
Hello & Welcome.
Hi! Its Jan Krystovic, Im a creative student who resides in the great city of Melbourne. I'm a multidisciplinary designer, specialising in brand identity , graphic design and packaging. I'm also interested in video, music production and photography. Whatever the challenge, my goal is to help elevate my employer or clients potential through smart ideas, clear speak and solid design without complication. I know how to appreciate great and innovative designs currently in the market place, but also open to making adaptations and improving existing ideas to create a strategic and refreshing approach. Throughout this process, I inject a refreshing mix of creativity from a simple design to a modern minimalistic twist, which I believes sets my design apart from competitors.
This blog will have a bunch of design ideas, inspirations, fashion, street culture, sneakers and etc. curated by me. I will also include some of my design projects from Behance.
