"I’ve been thinking about that, but I think if I tell him, he’s probably gonna get angry at me." Andrea didn’t want him to get angry at her. She chuckled at his comment, dropping her hands to her side, the girl didn’t actually think she would be in a situation like this. Grounder talking/having a normal conversation with a sky person and actually not trying to hurt each other. "Are you trying to suggest something?" Slightly raising her eyebrows at the guy, a smile formed on her lips.

"Yeah, no kidding," Murphy agreed, then thought privately that maybe he hadn't been wrong to be so scared of the grounder he'd seen in the cave. If other grounders didn't want to make him angry, there must be good reason. "Just that, if you don't have anything better to do..." he trailed off slightly and gestured around before laughing slightly helplessly. "I'm kinda lost here, is all."

"Pff, Don’t let it go to your head. You can’t just be the brawn, you gotta have the brains too. That’s why we’re a team." Although she knew how to take care of herself, it had always been nice to have Murphy around. He was a bit more intimidating than she was, and sometimes you needed people to be scared. Even if he didn’t have the best ideas, she’d never thought he wasn’t helpful. Their partnership worked well because of the way they ran things, and if she had to choose anyone else to be her right hand man, she wouldn’t. "It’s a great way to lead. I don’t need some stupid democracy. My word is law, and anyone who disagrees can eat it." She grinned smugly. Although she was joking with him, she did agree with what she was saying to some degree. When you had a democracy, there was always a chance of being overthrown—ruled out. With a dictatorship you had complete control, and if done correctly, no one would be brave enough to challenge you for leadership. "Your wish is my command." she replied in a dramatic tone, knowing that whether she joked about it or not, she was completely honest. If he wanted something, she would do what it took to get it for him. He deserved as much, and even if she messed around with him about being the one to save him, she owed him too. In his own way he saved her. Things would’ve been a lot harder without him around, even if she hated to admit that. "Don’t flatter yourself. You can rescue yourself this time, princess. I got shit to do. Dragons to slay." She winked in his direction. "You know, maybe one day I’ll let you be my knight. I might get a bit lazy one day and I’ll need you to fix shit for me."

"Hey, I'm just trying to keep up with you," he fired back. That much was true: though they were the same age, Minnie always seemed older than him, much more worldly and jaded by the Ark life. Murphy was better at following than at leading -- he didn't see a problem with it; what were leaders without dedicated, loyal followers, after all? He had first realized that when he had met Minnie, when he had so naturally fallen behind her, just to her right, when she had gone to scare up some revenue from  clients. "Maybe you and Griffin have more in common than you wanna admit," he said, only half joking. If anything, Minnie was just a hardened, wild Clarke, readier to kill for what she needed, better at assessing the needs of a group. Having Minnie behind Clarke wouldn't be a bad thing for the hundred, he thought. "That's sweet of you," he teased, then shrugged and added, "I mean, you've never let me down before. Kinda doubt getting rid of Wells Jaha would be the first time." So many people had disappointed him -- his mom, namely, but also the government of the Ark at large and...his dad, too, maybe. But not Minnie. Never Minnie. She'd always come through for him when it mattered. Shaking his head with a slight laugh, he said, "I always rooted for the dragon, is the only thing. That might put a damper on me slaying it for you." It did make him smile, though, that she would think she could be lazy; he didn't remember a day, ever, that Minnie hadn't been working her ass off. He wasn't sure she knew how to slow down. And if they were going to be working on getting on the right side of their new leaders, it wasn't like they could take a day off any time soon.

"Yeah," she replied as she nodded. "I do." Charlotte then frowned. "I haven’t even whined once. I’ve asked you questions and you just got mad at me," she complained before she started to climb out of the hole. As he was sticking his head out of the hole would have been the perfect time to stab him in the leg, but she contained the thought and just climbed out. "Now can you make it out trash monster?" she teased as she crouched down next to the hole.

Her answer, not the one he expected, prompted Murphy to turn and face the girl, opening his mouth as if to reply before closing it and shaking his head. Shrugging as he turned back around, he said over his shoulder, "Yeah, by some miracle," he replied, then sighed. He wasn't good with kids, was the thing. There was something about Charlotte that kind of made him laugh, the way she gripped her knife that plucked some sort of sympathetic heartstring, but still -- she was just a kid, just a liability. "You're lucky trash monsters have such high bullshit tolerances," he told her, before lifting himself out of the hole and looking around. Then, he dropped his uninjured hand into the opening, waving it when she didn't grab it. "Come on, I think it's okay."

"Yeah, not at all. And I'd rather get lost trying to keep up with you than lie to your brother, so. Where're we heading?"

"Yeah, I know who." A sigh escaped Andrea’s lips as she looked around her surroundings. After the fog, her first thought was to check if anyone was outside. And by outside, she meant to check if anyone didn’t take cover while it was happening. "No," She paused. "I was just asking because it’s getting late."

"Maybe you should talk to him about seeking counseling, or something?" he suggested, before adding, "Don't let that guy be a doctor. His bedside manner would suck." Glancing around, he realized that it was probably later than he thought. Murphy knew he should really be back at camp by nightfall, but if he had someone who knew the territory -- "Hey," he said, making sure to stay a good distance from her, "Exploring's usually more fun with a guide. Right?"

"Starstruck? I didn’t know I was famous." A lie. Once Octavia had been taken, everyone badgered him about keeping her a secret. He couldn’t even do his job without someone commenting on his family. He was just glad Octavia didn’t have to hear any of it. "Let’s go." He grabbed his pack and headed for the edge of the camp, towards the area he’d been hunting from recently.

"I think I like infamous better, for you," Murphy said, lifting one shoulder in a shrug. And if, by some insane happenstance, someone on the dropship hadn't known who Bellamy Blake was on the Ark? Everyone definitely knew now. Following close behind the taller male, Murphy made sure to keep looking around them at any slight noise. Could be an animal, so, nothing, or could be something -- someone? -- they weren't looking to run into.

Charlotte listened to his answer before nodding. “You don’t think I want to hear what you have to say?” Charlotte asked softly. “No one wants to hear what I have to say either, and you don’t talk because of that..” she repeated out loud so that she could understand it better. “Isn’t that kind of. mean?” Charlotte then watched as he stuck his head out. “It looks gone,” she said from the bottom of the hole. “Your face isn’t burning off yet.”

Murphy answered Charlotte's question with one of his own. "Well, do you?" he asked, knowing pretty well what he expected the answer to be. "Well, lots of people don't wanna listen to little kids whining," he replied, rolling his eyes. He scoffed at her last question, then nodded his head slightly as he pushed more leaves away. "I think we're good," he agreed, looking expectantly at the forest around them.

"The only stupid ideas were your ideas. There’s a reason I was the brains of the operations, and you were the brawn." she replied with a raised brow. She didn’t mean it of course. People didn’t think he was as smart as he actually was. She hadn’t thought it at first either, but after having him around she’d learned that he was very intelligent. He knew things that other people didn’t—not stupid things—things that actually mattered at the end of the day. Maybe he didn’t know about different types of trees or any of that bullshit, but he did know how to protect himself and that was all that mattered. "Princess? Personally I’d prefer the title Dictator, but I guess either works. I can’t believe that bitch is actually getting people to follow her.” she spat, shaking her head in irritation. “Her kind doesn’t have the right to rule down here. See, Bellamy I can handle. He knows what’s up—but Blondie? Like hell.” Minnie knew that she was going to have to make Clarke trust her, even if it made her want to gouge her own eyes out. They were more likely to win the brother over, but they needed both of them if they were going to pull this off. If she had it her way, the girl would go down with Jaha’s son. She’d seen them together before, it was only fair they went down together.  ”We’re going to make it more than even, Murphy. We’re going to make him beg, and even then we’re not going to finish him off. He’s going to suffer for as long as we want. We should make him believe we’re going to let him live, and after he thinks he’s safe. Then we end it.” She smiled devilishly. There were many nights when Minnie had stayed awake, thinking of all the ways she would get revenge. Without the things they had up on the ark, it would have to be tamer than she had hoped, but his death would be enough. “I think you’d make a very pretty damsel. Grow your hair out, put a flower in it. You’ll ace it, man.” Biting down on her lip, she let herself feel the slight happiness she’d been aching for since arriving. They were finally free—She was finally free. And no one could take that from her.

"Oh yeah, the brawn, that's me. You're inflating my ego," he said, grinning. He was pretty sure Minnie had hit people harder than he had, but whatever. He actually loved that people had started associating him as the brawn of their unit. The whole quoting-Shakespeare thing, the fact that he always had his nose in a book, didn't do much for his street cred, as it were. He snorted. "The Dictator," he echoed, "Yeah, that sounds about right." Personally, he agreed with Minnie: people following Clarke's lead genuinely confused him. If it came to it, could people pick her over Bellamy? The latter was so charismatic, so easy to follow, whereas Clarke just seemed abrasive in comparison. "I just want him gone," he replied, honestly. Yes, he wanted Wells to feel what he'd felt, but without the other boy's dad on the ground that would be difficult; if that poetic irony couldn't be achieved, merely eliminating the younger Jaha would be enough for Murphy. Raising a hand self-conciously to his already-lengthening hair, he rolled his eyes. "Don't even. And anyway, I probably wouldn't let you be my knight in shining armor." Yes, Minnie had saved him before, and yes, he knew he owed her, knew he owed her bad. But he wanted to start over. He didn't want to owe anybody, not anymore.

"The one and only." The only Bellamy he knew of, and the only brother from the Ark. Second children were illegal, so it made Bell and Octavia special and — he supposed — easy to remember. "Got a weapon on you? Can’t go out hunting with just your hands." Then again, the kid was suspected of murder, so maybe he could hunt without a weapon.

"Don't mind me, I'm just starstruck," he replied flatly, before nodding. He took a long piece of metal off the pile and then pulled his knife from his pocket. "Ready when you are, boss," he said, a slight smile coming to his face as he shouldered the longer metal and twirled the knife in his right hand.

"Yeah." The girl tucked her knife back in. "I may know who." Andrea chuckled, shaking her head at the thought of them two at the cave. "So, why are you out here anyway?" It was getting dark and people aren’t supposed to be out here when it’s late.

"He had some definite anger management problems, if that helps narrow it down," he offered, a slight smile coming to his face. Now that he was out of the cave, the whole experience seemed nearly dreamlike, like it hadn't happened at all. "Does exploring sound as stupid as I think it does?" he asked.

Charlotte smiled a little as she listened to his sing song voice. Finally he was actually listening to what she was saying. Of course, he wasn’t saying the most pleasant of things, but she was still pleased in a sadistic kind of way.  She then watched as he dug with her.  Charlotte then picked up a berry and put it in her mouth before making a face. It definitely didn’t taste very good. “Why do you not like talking?” she asked.

"I..." he started, then considered his answer for a moment. Of course, it didn't really matter what he said to the kid, but still. The question merited some sort of thought. "Most people don't wanna hear what I have to say, and most of those people aren't worth wasting the oxygen on," he decided. Maneuvering to his knees to start brushing away some leaves, he held his breath as he started checking for fog outside.

"Don’t act like it’s not a good idea." She scoffed, shoving her hands into her pockets. "I did a damn good job of it up there in that shit hole. And now that I’m down here without having to worry about any of those pricks? There’s no way in hell I’m letting anything stop me this time." Minnie shrugged slightly, pursing her lips. She’d been doing well for herself—for them. If it weren’t for the council, they would’ve had it all by now. She was brilliant on her own, but with the combined efforts of both her and Murphy, they were nearly untouchable. Nearly.  The girl had never actually felt guilty about anything before, but the closest she’d ever come to feeling such a thing was when she’d gotten sent to lock-up. She knew that he could handle himself, but that didn’t make her feel any better for leaving him to take care of himself. Minnie turned to look at him as he sounded his agreement, a smirk forming. “Fuck yeah we do. Think about it. They’ve got to deal with the serious shit, and we get to watch from the sidelines. When shit really goes down? No ones going to call us out. They’re gonna call them out, and we’ll be the next in charge.” She turned to gaze over her shoulder, the drop ship seeming farther and farther away. Part of her didn’t want to go back once she was gone, but she was smarter than that. She had things to take care of and she wasn’t going to leave until she’d done so. “I’m sure you and I aren’t the only ones that feel that way. When we do it—and I say when because I’m going to make it happen—we’re gonna make him suffer. He deserves as much,” she paused, “I’ve been thinking about how to do it, you know. But I know between the two of us it’s gonna be vicious.” She blew a strand of hair out of her face, finally stopping to stand in front of him. “You know, I can take care of myself. You’re the damsel in distress here.” Minnie turned around to face the forrest in front of them, her gaze jumping from one area to the next. “We’re gonna make earth our bitch.”

"Hey, I've gone along with ideas of yours that are a hell of a lot dumber than this one. I'm all for it," he said, grinning. Though to be fair, he was pretty sure most of his ideas up in the sky had been the stupid ones. Yeah, most definitely. He'd always been the one trying to trade for shit like switchblades and matchbooks, stuff he could do damage with, while Minnie had always looked to trade for high-value things, like food, or better yet, ID cards. "Better start calling you princess instead of Griffin, then," he teased. But that was the thing about Minnie -- she'd never cared as much about being "in charge" as running the show from behind the scenes. "And maybe not Bellamy," he said, "But Clarke for sure is gonna need someone for the dirty work." He wasn't particularly eager to see Bellamy take a fall like Minnie insinuated, but better him than them, right? "It's not fair," he muttered, before swallowing hard and shaking his head. "It's never been fair, what he's always had that we haven't. That'll make it even." He grinned at the word vicious, knowing that very few words described the pair as well. He gave a short laugh before scoffing. "Me, a damsel in distress? Fuck off," he said, then grinned. "Hell yeah, we are."

When the sky person in front of her also said his name, she was quite shocked. She thought he would actually try and fight her, but no he didn’t and that made her feel relieved. “No, I don’t.” She held the urge to laugh, thinking that he referred to one of them.”You ran into one of us while the fog was happening?”

"That obvious?" he asked, pocketing the knife and rubbing his hands up and down his arms. Though the evening air was still warm, just remembering the experience. First near-death experience on the ground hadn't given him nearly as much of a rush as he'd hoped.

"Because that’s boring," she replied. "Tell me a story about the trash monster," she said pointedly before looking around the dark and tiny hole. Charlotte then picked up her little knife and poked it right at the dirt. "Couldn’t we just start digging?" Charlotte then asked as she pulled some dirt up and decided to make a little hole. "Well that’s good that we’ll make it a little while," she then told him without looking up. She just wanted to be helpful, but clearly Murphy didn’t like little people.  "Does the trash monster eat little people?"

Ignoring her comment about boring, he looked up quizzically when she mentioned the trash monster. "The trash monster doesn't eat little people," he said, his voice a slight singsong, "The trash monster sends little people out to check for the fog if they make too much noise." Lowering his knife, he followed her example for a second, burying the blade and tossing out dirt. Then he wiped the knife on his pants and nodded wordlessly. He wouldn't tell her that a little while might be even shorter than expected, not until he knew for sure.

"Andrea," she paused. "Your turn." The girl looked up and noticed the person wasn’t a grounder and was part of the sky people. She knew that she isn’t supposed to be talking to them and telling her name, but then she wanted to show them that she meant no harm.

Her willingness to give him her name took him aback for a second, and maybe that's why he replied without thinking. "John," he said, before shaking his head and saying, "But it's -- it's Murphy. Actually." Gesturing at her knife with an open hand, he asked, "So, uh. You don't. Have an axe on you, do you?"

"But.. We can’t just be silent the entire time!" Charlotte exclaimed. Charlotte then looked at all of his things before adding her little rations sack and  the knife that Finn gave her. "We’ve got all this stuff," she said quietly as she looked at it all. They could last for a day or so. "Okay," she said softly as she kept her head down. She really just wanted to stab him in the leg because he wasn’t being nice, but she had no escape from his monster-like wrath if she did so. Maybe when they were able to actually leave the hole she could do that. Charlotte pushed that thought to the back of her mind. "We should be okay for a little while, don’t you think?"

"Why not?" he asked, then raised his eyebrows. "How about we play the quiet game? The rules are really simple. You just stay quiet." Taking a quick count of everything they had, he had already rationed it out to last as long as possible -- leftover Ark habit, he guessed. "Yeah, for a little while," he said, started fiddling with his knife with his left hand. He wasn't sure how long the fog would last, but if it was more than a day or two? Then his ration calculations were way off, and they were basically screwed.
