Joey didn't really like going out, but suddenly he was panicking over a quarantine. "What do they really expect us to do in here for two weeks?" He says to his husband and daughter as he writes out a shopping list at the kitchen counter. "We cant jusy stay inside! What will we do?" He says even though they haven't really gone out this week as it was or have any plans at all really since they moved in. Babies will do that sometimes. "We should go to a store and buy all but like 1 or 2 of something for no reason and see if everyone just starts trying to buy that up next." He chuckles and underlines toilet paper.

No, you don’t understand. Construction workers are not being protected. They are being forced to go to work I unsafe condition. They’re told to do their jobs and keep this amount of distance, but as this video points out comedically, it is impossible to do their job and keep a safe distance from one another. Construction often requires a lot of people working together on single small rooms. You need multiple people to carry objects, use tools, use safety gear, etc. But they’re told they have to show up, because so long as they distance from each other they’re safe. But the job just doesn’t work like that. Tons of people are just walking off the job because of it. And as hilarious as this video is, it’s a testament to how ridiculous the conditions they’re asking these people to work under is.

I do think that it’s pretty interesting how this coronavirus pandemic has showcased how manufactured inaccessibility is. 

When I was too sick to attend high school, I was told that any distance learning accommodations were impossible and I was forced to drop out. Now, my same high school has switched to online courses. 

When I asked my college’s disability office if they could offer any accommodations for days I was unable to make it to class due to my illness, I was told that it was not possible, and that if I missed more than the allotted amount of days I would be automatically failed. Now, my college is offering numerous online accommodations any any illness related absences are fully excused. 

When I spoke with my college about the physical problems that the increased burden of work study was causing me, they didn’t care, and said I could either work 20 hours a week or not get the money. Now, they’re funding work study for students who are either ill or who are not physically be on campus.

It almost seems like full accessibility isn’t actually impossible, and institutions just don’t want to make the effort to include disabled individuals. 

Somehow, when abled people need accommodations, they’re readily available.
