hey there! man i know this is going to sound like a super noob question but like... how do carrds work? like, how do i use a custom template that somebody else has made? i just made an account yesterday but i'm having a lot of difficulty figuring out the site. do i need to upgrade to pro or something to use templates other people have made? thanks in advance!
hiya nonnie! not a noob question at all. i know a lot of people that are only just switching over bc everyone used to use docs.
the free version of carrd comes with a fifty element limit. if you want to use templates that come with more than fifty elements, you'll need to upgrade. carrd accounts that were made before a certain date can add up to 100 elements for free, but they decided to limit it later on (probably so more people would buy pro? not sure). it won't let the person you're getting it from transfer the template to your account if it surpasses your element limit.
good news is, pro lite is only $9 yearly - so if that's feasible for you, i'd recommend just going ahead and getting it.

instagram has a lot of factors that add up to pretty rampant toxicity - because it's an image focused platform it's very edit heavy, and if you don't have a pretty account/consistently fashionable edits, you won't get as many interactions. it's also a much younger community in general; you'll find a lot of teenagers there, so it's very high school. gossipy, cliquey, that sort of thing. i spent a lot of time there and i find it frankly awful.
twitter i don't have much experience with, but when i was there i found it to be pretty difficult to navigate. i don't know how it is dramawise, but it seems like people post a lot less out of character stuff there, so that might be a good fit for you!
if it isn't, though, i think with tumblr the real trick is to be clear with your expectations. i would recommend putting in your rules that you want a drama-free dash and won't follow others who post/reblog a lot of callouts. turn off anon if that stresses you. i've found that making the first move on clear communication with rp partners is helpful as well.
