Swiss Alps,⠀ Quite late in the day, the clouds are rolling around, unpredictable. I had eyed up the composition during the days previous but I was never happy with the large blank sky which takes up half of the frame. I loved the pine trees below and the craggy rocks which the afternoon sun lit and its features. Finally some interesting clouds drifting in and I saw this, I love how the long exposure has rendered the skies so turbulent. We had no plans on stopping at this location - it's not even really a 'location' just a pond we spotted on the side of the road in the south of Iceland. It's already nearly 10pm and we had been on the road for over 12 hours and really keen on finding the hotel and getting some sleep, but this really called to us and we stayed for a few minutes. It was a long drive up to the lakes and upon arrival we were met with heavy, low cloud and a strong drizzle. I headed out to the lake (Coniston) when the light was falling to capture some moody shots of he fog, the lake and jetty and the trees. This is one of 6. I started using my tilt-shift lens for this, but its not weather sealed, so rain was starting to seep inside the lens, so I switched to a weather sealed zoom for these shots. This is a very famous landmark and popular photography location in Iceland, The three waterfalls are Kirkjufellfoss sitting near the mountain of Kirkjufell. Beach Huts, Bournemouth UK⠀ ⠀ I've had this image in my head for a long time, am happy I had the right conditions to make this thought a reality. Perfect placement of the lamp post, a mix of colours in the huts themselves (which five different tones when converted to mono) and no clutter in the front of the huts. Island in the Sky⠀ Well this was unexpected ... Just driving down the road on the approach to Bowness, in the Lake District, England - and the early morning mist revealed the tops of the hills across Windermere lake. Hallgrimskirkja⠀ The 73m tall Hallgrimskirkja Cathedral in Reykjavik. I caught this in the late afternooon sun, and although I have some beautiful colour images of this, converting it to Black and White gives it a very monolithic look. Forest Full of Trees⠀ This forest West of London gives me great pleasure photographing it at different times of the year and in different weather conditions. Stormy Bay, Havana⠀ A passing storm left some pretty violent seas and some beautiful evening late afternoon light. Derwent Water Jetty aka Ashness⠀ One has to move fast when shooting sunsets as the light changes so quickly. When combining rapidly changing light and long exposure photography you need to be on your game - a mistake in overall timings can set you back and having to start again may mean the beautiful light you started with, has gone. This is a 7 minute exposure using a #formatthitech #10stop #ndfilter on the south-eastern side of Derwent Water in the Lake District in England. The midges were biting and I was jumping around waiting for the shot to complete. What a sight to see!
