I’m in love with my best friend’s girlfriend. Need help ASAP!
That’s what you were reading while in line for the bathroom at the Briar hockey arena. The Hawks were crushing the Clovers so you didn’t feel that bad about taking a break from the game.
You were intrigued by the request, mainly from the lack of context. You were pretty sure you answered a similar question to this last fall but you assumed the sender was too lazy to scroll through the page. Everyone who sent requests to the account knew to provide as much detail to the situation without actually outing themselves. That’s what made the account so fun to read and it also helped you a lot as well.
The second sentence also piqued your interest. Only three words but you could feel the person’s desperation for guidance. You’ve gotten beggars before in the inbox but they were typically because their problems were timely such as a roommate conflict.
But this request, it seemed like someone’s final straw. ‘In love’ meant time. This person had been sitting with these emotions for so long that they think it developed into something further. Well you didn’t know the entire situation thanks to the short request.
You were tempted to ignore it and return to the fuckboy request but the ASAP glared at you. They needed help and for some reason they felt they needed to come to you.
Someone tapped you on the shoulder, signalling a stall had opened up. You tucked your phone away letting the possible ideas float around.

The Hawks had won to no one's surprise. You texted Tucker that you and Allie would meet the group at Malone’s assuming they’d want to shower and change beforehand.
Beau had already gotten a table when you and Allie arrived and waved you both down.
“Hello lovely ladies,” he greeted.
Allie gave him a nod and you slid in next to Beau. He hadn’t gone to the game because an essay was due but you were glad he made it in time for drinks.
“How’s the essay?” you asked.
“It’s done and now I don’t want to think about it,” he said, “Drinks?”
“Please!” Allie exclaimed, she seemed a bit more on edge than usual which left you wondering what went down with her and Sean.
Malone’s was slowly coming alive as more students trickled in. You, Beau and Allie talked about classes until a loud cheer erupted throughout the bar.
You looked over to see the men of the hour had arrived. Dean was riling up the crowd which made Beau shout back like a weird mating call.
“Heard you crush them,” Beau complimented, greeting the blonde.
“Obviously,” he scoffed, sliding into the booth next to Allie.
The other three were close behind with grins on their faces and beers in hand. Tucker pulled up a chair while Garrett squeezed in with Dean, leaving Logan to slide in next to you.
“Haven’t seen you in awhile,” you said, turning to face the brunette, “Great job today.”
Logan flashed you a friendly smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes like there was something holding him back from fully enjoying the moment.
“Yeah, I've been busy with work and the garage,” he shrugged.
You gave him a sympathetic nod not wanting to press further.
“Thank you again for fixing my bike,” you said.
“It was really no problem,” he shrugged, “Anything for a friend.”
You both awkwardly smiled at each other as out of all the boys you and Logan were the least close. Partly because he was hardly at the house whenever you were over with Hannah. But also he seemed a bit more shy and distant than the others.
“Hannah said the music conference is going well,” you said, turning to Garrett, “She also said congrats on the win.”
“Yeah she called me after the game,” Garrett smiled as if the very thought of his girlfriend brightened his mood, “Her hotel looks so nice.”
Logan excused himself to go grab another drink while you and Garrett talked more about Hannah and the amazing opportunity she had to attend a classical music conference this weekend.
Allie suddenly got up, announcing she wanted to dance and grabbed you to join her. You didn’t miss the suspicious look Dean had as you were being pulled to the dance floor.
You danced and laughed with your best friend until she said that it was time for her to use the bathroom. So you walked back to the table where it was just Logan and Jules left. Garrett left a little earlier to FaceTime Hannah. Dean was nowhere to be seen. While Tucker and Beau were chatting up with their frat brother, Justin.
“Nice moves,” Jules teased.
You gave a shy shrug, fiddling with your hands. Whenever you were around Julea, you couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. Only because if your secret got out they would waste no time blasting it on Fifth Line for everyone else to know.
“I was just telling Logan about my theory of who the most recent Bitch to Me Briar request came from,” Jules said, “Pretty sure she’s in my class.”
They were referring to last week’s post of a girl stuck in a love triangle.
“I’m sort of amazed that page still has content to post and the fact people are interested,” Jules continued.
“Well college is a lot for some people,” you said, looking down at your lap.
“Yeah I think it’s cool that there’s someone giving advice free of judgement,” Logan chimed in to your surprise.
“I suppose,” Jules shrugged, “But the girl in my class is totally that girl. I’ve seen her walk to class with two different guys every other day.”
Your phone buzzed from a text notification from Allie.
Allie
Started talking to a hot stranger. Would you be mad if I went home with them?
Her text amused you as you were aware of Allie’s recent challenge of trying to get over Sean. You told her that maybe no contact would be best but given their long history Allie couldn’t do it. Instead it seemed the one solution she and you could somewhat agree on was to find a temporary distraction. You had meant maybe pick up a new hobby or join another club but Allie took it as doing someone new. Which you supposed worked.
Just because you gave advice didn’t mean everyone always followed it.
You
Go for it. I’m probably gonna head back now anyways.
Allie
You’re the best! Get home safe.
“I’m going to head out,” you announced, getting up from your seat.
At the same time Logan said, “I think it’s time for me to go.”
Jules just started at the two of you which made you realize what the interaction could come across as.
“Oh not together,” you said quickly, “We’re not—“
“Wasn’t thinking that,” Jules said which made Logan laugh as your face heated up in embarrassment.
“I can walk you back,” he said and teasingly added, “Unless you prefer I walk three paces behind you.”
You rolled your eyes and said a quick goodbye to Jules. Logan followed as you waved to Tucker and gave an encouraging thumbs up to Allie.
It was cold outside but thankfully you brought your winter puffer to brave the walk. Logan matched your pace as you both walked in awkward silence towards the direction of campus.
“You didn’t drive?” you said, knowing Logan normally brought his buddy’s home in his old pickup truck.
“Nah I wanted to drink,” he said, “So I guess you are stuck walking back with me.”
“I didn’t mean it like that,” you mumbled, “Your sibling is just known for running a very infamous gossip account.”
Logan laughed at your comment which made you feel a bit better. You were aware of Logan’s attractiveness, you would be lying if you denied having a small crush on him freshman year. He was your campus crush, always seeing him in the dining hall with a Hawks hockey hoodie and a flashy smile.
But since you’ve gotten to know him, you’ve also learned his habits. You once walked in on Tucker scolding Logan for sleeping with five different girls in one week. A statistic that still blows your mind.
You knew the appeal though. He was handsome and very kind. But carried himself like he was carrying secrets. Girls were into the mysterious unattainable jock.
Also now you had too many things on your plate to even be thinking about a crush.
“So…” Logan awkwardly began cutting through your thoughts, “what’s Allie up to?”
“Trying to get over her ex,” you shrugged, “In arguably the worst way possible but I tried warning her.”
“I feel like you would give good advice,” Logan pondered, “You seem wise.”
“Just because I’m quiet doesn’t mean I’m wise,” you mumbled.
Compared to Hannah and Allie who were literally performing majors you tended to gravitate in the background. Hence your secret online persona. But that was mostly because you felt weird being loud.
Growing up you were often scolded when you spoke too loud or were acting too “dramatic”. So now you just choose to stay quiet until you feel comfortable with your company. The company has a very short list of people.
“I didn’t mean it like that. You just seem like you think about a lot of things,” he corrected, “You’re not stupid is what I’m trying to say.”
“Thanks,” you said, “You also are not stupid.”
“I actually am an idiot,” Logan laughed.
“What do you mean?” you asked.
The hockey guys had surprised you by their emotional maturity. Even if they were loud they always acted within reason. At least sober. Logan actually seemed the most mature out of them.
“I’ve just done some dumb things,” Logan shrugged.
Like falling in love with Hannah.
“We’re young. We’re supposed to be doing dumb things,” you said.
“See what I mean about always saying the right thing,” Logan joked, “What’s the dumbest thing you’ve ever done?”
Run an advice page.
“I don’t know. Take five shots back to back?”
“Nah that’s what we all do on Saturdays.”
“It is pretty stupid though,” you said.
Logan looked at you with your hands stuffed in your pockets and gaze on your shoes. You were definitely shyer compared to the crowd you hung out with but Logan always enjoyed your company. You were witty and everyone’s number one cheerleader.
Logan actually thought you were extremely gorgeous when Allie and Hannah first brought you around. You had been wearing a pink lip gloss and your hair was braided. But when you shut Dean down in probably the most hilarious way, Logan knew there was more to you.
He just hadn’t got the chance to find out. Mostly on him but also because you were super busy with school and all your extra curricular activities. You volunteered at the local elementary school on Sundays and Hannah had mentioned you worked at a bookstore which Logan found adorable.
“You don’t have to answer,” Logan said, realizing he might’ve been making you uncomfortable.
“In high school, my friends opened up the sunroof and then I flashed the entire highway,” you blurted out.
“You’re lying,” Logan said in shock. And then mentally kicked himself trying to imagine.
“It was a part of senior date night,” you said.
“I would’ve never guessed.”
You just shrugged and kept walking, seeing that your dormitory was a few feet away.
“Thanks for walking me home,” you said, stopping in front.
“We just happened to be going in the same direction remember,” he winked which made you smile.
“Night Logan,” you said, “It was nice seeing you.”
“Goodnight,” and then he added for whatever reason, “Yeah I should be around more. Midterms are almost over.”
“That’s cool,” you smiled before walking inside.
Logan waited until the door closed and automatically locked before making his way home. It wasn’t until he saw Garrett still talking to Hannah in the living room that he found it a bit easier to breathe.

Dear Yearner,
You typed as soon as you got into the covers. That’s what you decided to nickname the requester since they hadn’t given their own alias.
Honestly this sounds like it sucks. I would suggest first to spend some time away. Maybe being around the couple would only make you grow resentful and add to your want. I’m not saying to distance yourself but to put yourself in a new environment. Fresh faces might be helpful. I don’t know much about your situation since you were so concise with your request but in a couple weeks I’d also suggest writing a list of things you like about said girl or just in a partner in general. You might realize some other things. Wish you the best
Love,
Briar Bitch
