on this day every year i just wish the lennon estate would stop trying to paint john as a peace martyr and a saint. i remember that one yoko quote about how john's death was like a test for him to prove his love for the whole world and i'm like... give me a break. his love for the whole world? his political activism aside, he was angry at the whole world for most of his life. he lashing out, judgemental, depressed and struggling. his death was a senseless tragedy, it was unfair and it shouldn't have happened but painting him as a martyr has harmed his image so much in my opinion. he was a flawed person who was open about his struggles and the fucked up things he'd done. while his activism was important (although not radical or deep enough imo but anyway), making him a peace martyr just makes people dislike him because of how shallow and ironic it seems and i think he'd feel the same way.

we need to bring back old school tumblr communication and im so serious. sending an ask to a mutual just to say hello. seeing three different asks in your inbox all asking how your dentist appointment went. seeing a post you think one of your mutuals would enjoy and tagging them/sending it to them in the dms. nowadays its just silently liking a post or (if youre feeling extreme) replying under posts.
