I just learned that a lot of vintage perfumes and fragrances were intentionally created to blend well with the ever-present smell of cigarettes, and in specific a lot of iconic ones that are super musky and floral and civet-heavy were intended to compliment the smell of fur coats or even "refresh" that new fur coat smell, which is one of the reasons (besides just shifting preferences and trends) that a lot of them smell really, really bad to modern noses.
I bet there's some stunning genius diva out there right now who meticulously coordinates her Victoria's Secret body mists with her vape flavors.

For beauty is nothing but the beginning of terror, which we are still just able to endure.
“The Princess out of School” (detail) by Edward Robert Hughes.
Some women will never want children in their life in any meaningful capacity. They don't want to give birth. They don't want to adopt. They don't want to be the fun auntie. They don't want to be a godmother. They don't want to work in a field with children. They will never change a child's diaper and don't believe their lack of childcare skills is a problem that needs fixing, because childcare is not a crucial part of the human experience, with billions of people on the planet. They go about their day while only seeing kids out at the grocery store or at the park, and nothing is missing from their lives.
The refusal to accept this is driving a global right-wing backlash movement.

It's weird that when i wear anything other than dark muted colors, even colors i like, i dont look like me. Got a cute lavender long sleeve top and i absolutely love it! But i look like an imposter. Like "who the fuck is that lady in the mirror? That's not what i wear!". It's kind of scary seeing myself wear light and or bright colors. I have 2 sky blue shirts that still dont feel like me despite the fact that I've had them and wear semi regularly for 2-3 years. I tried red nail polish a year or so ago for the first time ever and i felt weird the whole time until i peeled it off. Like those were not my hands.
I think I've gotten to a point where what i look like to myself is mostly based on my tastes. Not sure what that means about me but at least I'm having fun with it.
