How Sigyn feels about the Vanserras and Raivis
Sigyn's brand inspo pics
Appearance:
Thicker body type with large breasts and rolls around her waist
Has curly hair that color of rich red wine or a purple maple, reaching slightly past her shoulders
Dark brown eyes
Most prominent feature is her brand marking her magical bargain with the Forest House. The brand is a collection of intertwining vines of leaves that spread across every inch of her body. Each leaf symbolizes a decade worth of servitude in the House, and there could be several hundred leaves on her skin. Sigyn herself does not know the exact number of decades she will serve—only Beron knows that number. The harsh red color and rough texture stand out against her skin.
Powers:
Winnowing
Small amount of fire magic
Backstory:
Sigyn was born in the north of Autumn in a once-wealthy family in the mining industry that fell into hard times after the loss of human slavery and the Human War, destroying much of the Court. Despite her family falling into obsolescence after the war, she was taught to be proper, as noticed by Eris and the Vanserra family. When Sigyn turned 70, her family sold her off to a higher-ranking lord who promised the restoration of their wealth and dignity in exchange for Sigyn's hand. The lord ended up destroying the business, driving Sigyn's family into poverty, all while abusing Sigyn physically, violently, and sexually over a span of a decade. Sigyn endured it until she learned of her father's suicide over the ordeal, which was news that was kept secret from her for over a month after his funeral rites were carried out. Angry and realizing the utter doom and pointlessness of her marriage with the lord, she plots a violent death for him. Three days after learning of her father's suicide, she leads her husband into bed and stabs him to death.
Word of Sigyn murdering her husband catches Beron's ears quite quickly given his network of spies. Her family, who is completely destroyed by the suicide of her father, have no say in Sigyn's arrest. Knowing that her life is over, Sigyn thinks about playing the act of suicide like her own father did, but has no choice but to accept the bargain Beron offers her, since he threatens the remains of her family, specifically her mother.
Infodump for the bargain system in the Forest House:
To replace the slave labor Beron had syphoned out before the Human War began, his advisor Lord Angrboda devised a bargain system where criminals or those in debt could serve the Forest House for a designated number of decades, with their sentence burned into their skin with Autumn's bargaining magic. Each leaf symbolized a decade worth of servitude, and these leaves fade one-by-one after a decade passes. It became common for females to be indebted to the Forest House as servants and/or prostitutes, where they were either sold by their families or husbands to pay off a debt or crime in their name, given to the House as punishment for dishonoring a family, or for committing a crime themselves. Sigyn's reason for her bargain is very much a secret throughout the Forest House, even amongst the Vanserra family, but the extent of her brand shows that it's a very large crime. Only Beron knows of her crime and the number of decades she will serve the House.
Backstory continued:
Sigyn has no regrets about her past crimes but she despises the sentencing, especially since she does not know the exact number of centuries she is required to serve. She thinks that logically, this uncertainty signifies a life sentence, and accepted that fact when her sentence had begun. Still often contemplates suicide like her father did, but physically is unable to due to the bargain's rules. She constantly observes members of The House and quickly becomes aware of the battle going on between Eris and Raivis for the High Lord’s crown. Spends a lot of ACOEAS figuring out which side she’s on, since she seeks an early freedom, and marks the brothers’ differing relationships with LoA and Beron.
Beron makes her one of his favored servants, often calling her into his chambers to make her serve as a bed slave, mocking her past abuse with her husband which he learns both from his spies and from the questions he forces her to answer. Makes her the Lady of Autumn's primary handmaiden to mock the Lady of Autumn and to use her as a warning. Given Sigyn's closeness to Beron, Raivis develops an obsession with her and uses her to spy on his father as well as an object of sex and power.
i agree so much about making your blorbos pathetic but i do fear that many take this to mean 'make them more traditionally feminine/submissive' which genuinely hurts my soul. make your blorbos pathetic in interesting character-oriented ways. understand their neuroses and turn the dials up to eleven. juxtapose the parts of life they handle extremely well with the parts of their lives that make them eat shit. make them angry. make them cold. make them pave their own way to hell while building walls preventing them from seeing any other way. please i'm begging you no more pathetic as an euphemism for bottoming im gonna mclose it.
duuuuuude you have GOT to come out tonight we're enacting cruelty upon those who have transgressed so badly that we can justify any act against them... and you KNOW we're interpreting our delight as moral righteousness... Yeah it's fucking crazyyyyyyy get an Uber
sick of y’all sayin shit like “why is no one writing this pair together!!!!!” plenty of people are writing that pair together actually. like actively. go read it and tell them you like it. so that they know you like it. and continue to have a passion for writing it. “there’s not enough of this pair together!!!!!” rare w!! there ISN’T enough! but have you even uhhhh read what IS out there. have you even taken a PEEKSY at what might already be out there. do you even know that there’s ANY of that pair out there. and that there would be MORE. if you READ IT. and told the person who wrote it that you LIKED IT. be the change etc etc
