Aileen stayed silent for a moment, not sure what to say or do. In the end, she slipped her hands in her pockets, giving him an apologetic smile. “I didn’t mean to, trust me.” She said, one last glance at the burned flowers. “I can pay them to cover the damage.”

“It’s okay.” He said, still looking slightly disappointed. “No, it’s fine. I promise.” He said. Johnny couldn’t fix burnt flowers, but growing new ones was cheap and easy. “Just be more careful next time.”

Aileen always loved flowers. The smell, the colors, their meaning, just about everything about them. So when she passed by the flower shop, she couldn’t help but stop to look at the flowers. It was a nice little halt, until she saw them. The exact same flowers Henrik would give her almost everyday. It was stronger than her, Aileen reached for the flowers. But the moment she touched them, they burned to crisps, ashes falling to the ground. She started at her empty hands for a moment before looking up, spotting someone that seemed like they were working there. “I’m sorry.”

Johnny had been getting ready to leave when he spotted Aileen. His heart crushing a little when he saw the flowers getting burned. “You burnt the flowers,” he said, looking genuinely upset about it. “That’s. Yeah, that’s fine.” He said, shaking his head a bit.
