We met Ben Lovett tonight. Well, thats a little bit of a lie. I guess. We saw Ben Lovett tonight. In a bar, where we were playing an open mic. Kinda cool huh? Although he disappeared before I played. And since I was first on stage, that was quite early. I guess our love affair was never meant to be.
The whole Emily EP, released on iTunes on 13th May 2012. Download a free track today at www.jonnybreakwell.com
Girl on the platform smiled... and she began to dance.
This is a fantastic song, and a class video that I would like to share with you today :) you will of course know the song from the match.com advert but I'm letting you know today (if you don't already) that there is more to the man than first meets the eye. Matthew P, the writer and performer of this song blends various folk, blues and ukulele magic into his sound to produce a beautifully enlightening sunny sound. You can download his Breakfast EP free from his facebook page, or check out the blog on his website. I love some of the brass he incorporates in his recordings, and the light-hearted lyrics he uses.
Check it out, it'll bring a little sun into your day.

Girl on the platform smiled... and she began to dance!
I can't help but be a little excited as this week my cover video of Ed Sheeran's The A Team and Mikill Pane's Little Lady hit 3,000 views. I am incredibly happy at this feat and would love to share the video with you now! Check it out alongside others on my youtube page. You can also download a free track on my webpage. Thanks to all for watching :) Jx
Found this little gem a while ago, but today I thought I would share it with you. It is one of Mumford & Sons' brand new tracks, and although they have not mentioned when it will be released, one can only hope it will be soon as their first album which we have all come to know and love 'Sigh No More' was released over 2 years ago now, on 2nd October 2009. The new album was supposed to be released in late 2011, but has been delayed with a still unknown release date.
This song 'Ghosts that we knew' was played by the band at various festivals last summer and on several radio shows, and the band still are unsure of whether this is the definitive title of the track. I'm sure you will agree that this is a very delicate version of the Mumford & Sons we all know, and they will no doubt re-work this song, and couple it with several others of a different tempo and feel on the album. I am, however content in the beauty and fragility of this version and would love to hear it on the album just like this.
Crack on Marcus & Co., we can't wait for the new release!

The Tallest Man on Earth? Nope, just a Swedish songwriter who goes by that same name. Kristian Matsson is his full name, and he has a penetrating songwriting style with plenty of strong rhythms and melodic hooks. Here is one of my favourite live videos of him http://youtu.be/Wa3lyo_Eowc. His open tunings and simple guitar riffs blend seemingly effortlessly with his soaring vocals and dylan/guthrie-esque style. If you haven't heard it yet, listen!
You can download a beautiful free song here - http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2010/09/new_tallest_man.html - the song is called 'Like The Wheel' and is one of his slower songs.
You will also hear Kristian's wife playing and singing on some of his records, she is also a Swedish singer/song-writer and goes by the moniker Idiot Wind (an old Bob Dylan song).
Take a listen now, and enjoy forever

Sun-gor
It is a great day today, and I thought I'd share a 'sunny' track with you! I love these guys, they are creative with their melodies and instrumentation, who would have thought mixing flutes, violins, cellos, pianos, glockenspiel and piano would produce such a delicate yet vast sound? Apart from Sufjan Stevens...
Anyway, check Gungor out if you haven't already, they are a christian band from Colorado. (Enjoy with a spot of sun!)

One of my favourite singer songwriters of the moment. Let me introduce Ben Howard, for those who don't know him already. He is a guitar wizard, and a songwriting genius. I love the melodies he chooses, and his nonchalant lyrics "keep your mind set, keep your hair long" as well as his ambiguous statements "Hope here needs a humble hand, not a fox found in your place". Great alliteration Ben, but I still have no idea what this means!
As songwriters, we should be allowed the grace to write what we think, not always what we mean. So sometimes it's best not to ask...
That is all for today

Hi. I'm new. And Bob Dylan is cool.
So, this is exciting :) being my first tumblr post, I thought I'd share a bit about why I am now here. I am a singer/songwriter, hoping to sing everywhere, to anyone who will listen. This little blog will help me put some thoughts down online for you guys to read, so that I can share some of the busy thoughts that wizz around my head with you.
Some of my favourite artists at the moment are Michael Kiwanuka, The Staves, Damien Rice, Ben Howard and Bob Dylan.
So enjoy this video of one of my favourite Bob Dylan tracks. He is a rhyming genius and a fantastic storyteller. This one is about world war III. Enjoy
