Sits down with a sandwich. Okay so. We don't really know a whole lot about Brooks home island and his backstory, right. The main things we know is
-His home island is in the West Blue
-It had a king(/Royal Leader)
(Both because this is the standard norm for One Piece, and also-
-Brook served in some form of royal army.
So anything past this point is conjecture- arguably even that there was royalty isn't 100% confirmed. But past here I'm going to talk purely in terms of some real If-Then kinda shit here.
Because the main thing we have to go off of about Brooks home island is Brook himself. He's never spoken about it even slightly; all his flashbacks and memories have to do with his time as a pirate.
...Which I feel is somewhat telling. He's even chosen to take new names for his fighting techniques, distancing himself from the army he trained in. Not to mention that he left to become a pirate despite having had high rank in his original home...
...So while this is besides my actual point, you do kind of get the feeling he may have left under. Bad terms.
But Brook himself carries something from there. There's his politeness, his form of dress. The fact that his sword fighting style is fencing. And the original names of his sword techniques.
Requiem la Banderole (since renamed Three-Pace Hum: Notch Slash), Aubade Coup Droit, Prelude: Au Fer, Gavotte Bond en Avant, and Swallow Bond en Avan, just to pull off the wiki list.
...Not only are these names in French, but Gavotte is even a french folk dance. This is also backed up by his eyecatch-
Which shows a pretty clear anime approximation of the idea of Some French Kind Of Room And Food there.
Claps hands. So we can clearly establish Brooks home island is a One Piece Approximation of French In Some Way.
...And here's where we crash directly into Fan Theory Nonsense. Because theres one *other* place implied to have One Piece Approximation of France type islands...
North Blue. Which remember is presumably cut off from West Blue by the Red Line and Grand Line. Not impossible you'd get some crossover, mind. Obviously the sane thing to assume here would be 'thats not that wierd'.
...Or you can be insane and have fun in your life and decide that Brooks Home island was a holdover of North Blue colonization into the West Blue, possibly even perpetuated by the original historical Germa Empire. (Which IMO could even explain why it got stopped- the world government would have some issues with expansion past one sea).
Bonus: from here you can even run the very fun idea of Brooks native language being a very weird, regional version of North-Blue*/French.
*Because its more fun for thre to be multiple languages, I run with the idea that theres North, South, West, and East Reigonal Languages, and then 'World Standards' (which is Japanese- Wano based Japanese would probably sound very florid and antiquated in comparison).
What do I think these regional languages sound like? Nightmare mix of the languages that the seas roughly emulate. : )
