ASMR BTS - My most popular video was a lie....

Okay a little click-baity because the only 'lie' was that my Data Entry ASMR video with the green creamy keyboard was a throw away video that I didn't care about very much.

In fact, I strongly disliked filming that video because of how tedious I made the data entry. I told myself that I wasn't going to film another one and of course the universe laughed at me and that became the video I'm known for.

I didn't care about the thumbnail at all; I hate that thumbnail because it's so ugly, and the bassy audio was pretty in your face, but apparently that was what did it for people. The only thing I really tried to do correctly, and this is because I went into a research rabbit hole, is making some of the forms realistic.

Apparently, it was too realistic.

I'm sure most of that video's audience understands that I'm not actually risking a lawsuit or jail time by blatantly showcasing real data. Though, there's been a smattering of well-meaning comments deeply believing that my asmr data entry video is unethical because it looks like it contains data from real-life or real-sounding companies and entities.

My data is fake but it's realistic (ish). Much like how the medical TV show 'The Pitt' is fake but realistic. I don't actually do data entry work for employment. Sorry to burst anyone's immersion bubble.

I'm likely never filming something like this again, despite its success.

What's funny is that before I stopped writing on Quora, I said somewhere that the content I spend a lot of time on won't get attention but the ones I spent five minutes on will be the ones to blow up.

Well.

I was right.

And I'm still laughing about it as much as I'm cringing from that video.

In all honesty, thank you to everyone who watched it, liked it, commented positive things, constructive feedback, went on to watch more of my videos, and subscribed for more.

Study ASMR - 30/5 Pomodoro Timer, Astrology & Tarot Studies

Oh Alice, we've gone down the rabbit hole together. It's been a month and I'm still waiting on books about magic, tarot, astrology, shadow work, etc. Even after ordering so many already. It's been a trip but a good one.

Join me in what is the first of (hopefully) many pomodoro videos; a way to add a little pizzaz to my normal study with me videos.

Also. Cats! During each 5 minute break, you'll see and hear a beloved toe-bean queen taking a nap and also sometimes glaring at me for daring to be in her space (she's a big sweetheart actually).

ASMR BTS - Who Knew Gentle Tapping Could Hurt?

I've only been a recent viewer of Tabi ASMR who inspired a slew of asmr ideas for my channel, like the Lid Sounds ASMR video and this week's Gentle Tapping ASMR.

Man, it looked so fun when watching Tabi but when I tried it, I was so restless and antsy the moment I started and then 5 minutes in my hands and fingers started to cramp. I don't know how Tabi does it for longer.

I think that's why I enjoy doing fast, but not aggressive tapping instead because I get all that restlessness out and I don't tense up that much either. Though, hand cramps still happen with this type of asmr video; I filmed the second episode and I think you can tell when my hands start to get pretty tired, haha :b

I don't think I'll try this kind of tapping again, it was too much of an uncomfortable and stressful filming experience. I'm surprised as well that I got over 20 minutes of usable footage. There was about 5 extra minutes I had to scrap because I was tapping too hard and when reviewing it, I could really feel the audio stabbing my eardrums.

ASMR BTS - June Timeless Pick a Card Tarot Reading

Decided to post the June's monthly tarot reading a week earlier than planned because it gives people more time to discover and receive their reading and process it. Rather than discovering it the first week of June and feeling like they've missed on on time to work with their message.

I'm very happy with this new reading pattern I'm using and I think each deck helps tremendously to bring nuance and depth to each group's messages.

I plan to use a couple of these decks in other types of readings. So I'm hoping to start doing shadow work tarot readings and maybe spirit quest/life purpose readings as well as karmic/past life pattern tarot readings.

But for now, I'm studying up on all things tarot, astrology, magic, shadow work, etc. because I'm having a lot of fun with this. So the next 'Study with Me' asmr video will probably be me reading and sifting through a stack of books about this.

ASMR Microphones - Mistakes & Lessons Learned pt. 1

Sound engineering (if I can call what I do that) is a trial by fire. Sometimes you never think to do certain things until you make mistakes. Like for instance, placing towels underneath the tripod of your microphone.

Why?

Because low frequencies, like book taps or even keyboard typing sounds, travel much easier through surfaces. Which means a microphone's gain that's turned up can definitely hear those frequencies and it'll show up as this bassy undertone.

Even if you tap gently. (cue sounds of frustration and disappointed sighs)

It's super annoying to deal with after you've filmed an hour worth of footage. But it's also a very simple fix, apparently.

You just need to have something to absorb the sound, so my solution is towels. There's probably a better solution, like foam, because it's more compact (? don't quote me on that) compared to woven materials that have holes in them.

So my household set up is an upcycled towel folded a couple times.

You can see in this 'fast, but not aggressive tapping and scratching' asmr video of mine that my thin hand towel isn't doing the trick because you can still hear some bassy undertones scattered across the video. It's also not placed under the microphone because I learned all of this after.

Trial and error.

Trial.....and error... (also there's a pro and con to filming in batches, because once you realize you make one mistake, it's in all of them...yay...)

Librarian ASMR BTS - Towers & Towers of Books are Overtaking my Living Space🙃

So this is my third Librarian ASMR video and I'm thankfully still enjoying the process of creating this series. I got this idea from a similar task I sometimes do at work, having to check tags/receipts by pulling them up and the paper making that smooth 'swoosh' noise that felt really satisfying to me.

Like all my first videos of any series or ASMR sound triggers I publish, my first Librarian ASMR video was clunky because I was doing it on instinct and really, I was experimenting with the filming the idea. I've had so many ideas that never make it to the editing or publishing phase because it just didn't feel good. Or, it's that because I was experimenting with the idea, there was a filming mishap that I noticed while editing and sometimes the mistake is too big to ignore.

(I almost didn't publish half of my Lids Sounds ASMR video because I of the cap reflection issue where 'I turned off the lights' with a shiny lid cap😭)

And sometimes the mistakes are just small enough to not completely ruin the experience or just funny enough to me that I do publish it. I make my mistakes public as a courage test and to remind myself that making mistakes on your first try of anything is okay to do so.

May's Timeless Pick-A-Card Tarot Reading ASMR BTS

I put in a rush order for these new oracle card decks so that I could use them in time for May's timeless pick-a-card tarot reading.

Loved the feel and visual of these decks and what each one focuses on. I used the Citadel cards to focus on goals and aspirations, real forward energy to direct the reading. And I used the moonology deck to examine the shadow side and to fill in the overall reading.

My tarot deck developed a new scratchy sound to it and I'm not sure what it's from. I tried to minimize the volume of the scratchiness and probably didn't catch every spike. But it is what it is. The moonology cards were so hard to shuffle. I tried to make it smooth but they were clunky in my hands and I wasn't used to the shape.

But I felt really good and proud of how these readings turned out. Was really surprised at some of them.
