So sick of these satam/archie fans shoving the freedom fighters in our faces. Makes it worse when having one of their sacred cows on board. Their beloved spin off did way more damage than 06 ever had, yet 06 is the one getting hate the most? At least Sonic’s brain wasn’t altered to the point he’s technically a different character to make Elise look better, unlike for Sally in satam/archie.

No I’m not sorry to say all of this.

The irony is that even when you put its failings as a Sonic adaptation to the side, SatAM was still a mediocre cartoon at most.

SatAM purists love to pull the excuse that Sonic had no character in the early games, and yet in-game animations constantly showed off Sonic and Eggman’s personalities. Just because it wasn’t spelled out in neon letters, or as fleshed out as they’d become in later games, doesn’t mean they were blank slates. I take it we’re also pretending the manuals didn’t exist either (which they could have most likely requested for the sake of research)?

Sonic was still cocky yet no-nonsense when necessary. Eggman was still comedic yet evil. The world they lived in was still uniquely vibrant. There was still something you could work with, so why they were transformed so radically, I have no idea aside from a misguided sense of inflated pride. (You might say the muddy blandness of SatAM is justified due to Robotnik conquering the planet, but Sonic CD proved you could show off an Eggman-conquered landscape that was still visually interesting.)

If your only defense for SatAM is “the games had nothing to work with”, your argument is inherently flawed.

not seeing the part where satam/archie made him a radically different character? also, you cant use CD in your example because when SatAM was being made it did not exist yet, both AoSTH and SatAM only had Sonic 1 and 2 to work off of. SatAM’s first episode premiered September 18th 1993: 

CD didnt release until September 23rd 1993 the earliest and didnt come to america until 2 months later November 23rd 1993: 

so you cant exactly fault the people behind SatAM for not sourcing a game that didnt exist yet for a bright neon world by eggman. also we’re gonna pretend that Eggman’s industrial areas in Sonic 1 and 2(y’know, the games used to inspire the show) werent bleak and dull in color:

At this point we're used to old Archie Sonic contributors trying to do their own thing with their old creations in the wake of the Penders lawsuits, since they're now legally free to do so. Most infamously we have Penders spending over a decade working on The Lara-Su Chronicles with his huge cast of Angel Island and Acorn Kingdom characters, and we also saw Scott Fulop briefly try to pitch Mammoth Mogul as a comic superstar in his own right

But for once, we now have a former writer tweeting about how he's actually totally game for Sega to do whatever with his most famous Sonic character. And its coming from one of the most minor contributors to Archie Sonic, who arguably went on to be the biggest name who ever touched the series

Zonic did have 1 gag going for him that I really liked. He was someone who maintained order across parallel worlds from the PERPENDICULAR dimension that ran thru all parallel dimensions. So he was always standing at a 90 degree angle from everyone else. (What was I smoking?) 🤷‍♂️

There's a Sonic creator who's super protective of all the characters he's created over the years to the point where SEGA doesn't want to use ANY of them in other media. I'm saying it here and now: I do NOT have that hangup with Zonic. SEGA, go to town! I am ready to play ball!

@SEGA, I am super-serious. I would be a dream to collaborate with. If you ever want to use Zonic The Zone Cop in a movie, cartoon, video game, breakfast cereal, you-name-it... the entire process would be headache free. It'd be smooth sailing the whole way. Call me. ☎

He knows this is a silly minor character, even if there is, in fact, still a small subset of fans intrigued by the idea of an alternate universe Sonic who's an interdimensional cop. I just think it's funny that he even thinks about Zonic at all in a world where he wrote Spider-Verse

According to an official Sonic the Hedgehog twitter post from June 25 2019, Fiona Fox is a Gemini.

This post also implies that Tails may be a Virgo; while the characters do not necessarily correspond to the star signs they were posted with (Eggman is listed as Taurus and Sonic as Leo, despite the two of them being confirmed Cancers), the description under Virgo does indeed correspond with an Archie storyline featuring Tails.
