Benton fished around his pocket to check to see if he had a lighter. His hands came out holding the lighter. “Here you go.”

“Today’s your lucky day – I happen to have it on me for once,” Mariana replied swiftly as she rummaged through the front pocket of her bag. A short moment later, she was pulling out a small pink object and reaching out to hand it to the brunette. “Just don’t lose it. It’s my favorite.”

Josie lifted the cigarette to her lips and lit the end before handing the lighter back. “Thanks, I wouldn’t take it pinks not my color.”

“As long as I’m wearing pants with pockets, it’s safe to say that I have a lighter on me.” He slid his left hand into the material of his jeans and pulled out her request. “How long ‘ya been smoking?”

“Thanks, probably longer than I should have. What about you? You seem young.”

—  Growing up, the two sisters weren’t exactly best friends, but they got along normally. Now that they’re older they get along much better and frequently spend time together.

“Apologies for my ignorance. Wanted to point out that, well, first, y’have a good taste in music. Second, I think you may have dropped something back there.”

“Music is sort of my job so I’d hope I’d have some taste.”
