everytime i saw it i’ve had to reread those parts bc it was the first ever time i saw a silly-goofy-but-depressed shonen main character resort to alcohol and it was a fascinating concept

something about it reminds you that yeah vash has lived for so long, long enough to have found a vice that he knows isn’t really a vice because what if it was a punishment

Genuinely, it’s incredibly sweet that Vash not only protects Wolfwood with his angel arm, something that he hates and normally has a heavy association with abuse, but that Wolfwood is one of the few people not afraid of it. And, on top of that, he literally wraps him up in the feathers, and Wolfwood seems to.. legitimately enjoy being wrapped up in them.
