X BABIES?
We salute an absolute icon 🫡
I love the x-men so much because that's just what leftist infighting is like! that's literally all it is! xavier is a sellout and they all hate him but he's the only one with any money. everyone complains about "they keep switching sides and dating each other it's so fucking confusing" like my dudes have you never been a part of any socialist organisation, ever. then people will go "magneto is so strong how has he not killed a bunch of teenagers" HE DOESN'T WANT TO KILL THEM! this started in a goddam basement over coffee he does not want to hurt them he just wants them to shut up and listen and will fling cars to do so
Magneto one drink in: I love Charles but hes such a kiss-ass, we don’t need to be FRIENDS, we just need mutual aid communities and to be left alone
Professor X one drink in: what the fuck is his self sustaining mutant community going to do for all the mutants born to human parents, which is MOST OF THEM, he’s so gay he’s forgotten how babies are made and I want to kiss his stupid face
Everyone: Please please please don't write your books in Google Docs. Frankly don't use Google Drive for personal stuff.
Their terms of service say they take down stuff like content related to terrorism and trafficking, but this Google Sheet was literally a list of movies I'd watched this year and books I'd read.
Holy smokes, guys. It's way worse than I thought. Google actually took away access to every single file of fiction writing I'd made on that account. BUT I backed it all up on Scrivener yesterday by coincidence. So I haven't lost my work, but I could have just lost the 12,000 words I've written this month after a year of really intense writer's block. I honestly don't know what that would have done to my psyche.
Please be careful out there, folks! <3
That is awful! If you're looking for a gdocs-like replacement, Ellipsus @ellipsus-writes is a queer friendly, anti-AI equivalent with online syncing and sharing - I've been using it for almost a year now as a replacement for gdocs and absolutely love it.
I do still back up all my work to local storage on LibreOffice too though, thank goodness you backed up to Scrivener OP!
That's it, I'm done. I'm downloading all my gdocs and not using it any more.
I don't want Elon Musk to kill himself because that would get him some sympathy from liberals and "oh so you don't care about mentally ill people?" would become a common line. Ideally I'd like him to be assassinated Luigi-style, but again that runs the risk of him becoming a martyr. No, the best way for him to die is in a stupid accident of his own creation, which I'm frankly shocked hasn't happened yet. Y'know like Tesla malfunction, falls over the non-OSHA-certified guard rails in his own factory, SpaceX explosion, crushed to death trying to fuck one of his ugly robots, ect.

the concept and idea of “you can always start trying to be a better person” is extremely important to me both in media and irl and i continue to be deeply deeply disturbed by the trend on this site pushing that these ideas in media are bad writing or even morally reprehensible
because theyd rather someone stay terrible or just straight up die than become a better person
from a compassionate point of view it’s deeply distressing and from a pragmatic point of view it’s outright frustrating
it’s fucked up.
What is the most important step a man can take?
The next.
I think part of the pushback about this is the idea that, to “redeem” bad people, their victims must first forgive them for unforgivable acts.
This is false. No one is obligated to forgive you. You can learn from your mistakes and become the best, kindest person on earth, and the people you’ve hurt still won’t forgive you, and you’ll have to accept that. And that doesn’t mean you aren’t allowed to grow. Because we aren’t just “pure” or “sinful”, we’re complex.
Sometimes the bridge is just burnt. Sometimes what your victim needs to recover from the way you treated them isn’t your atonement. It’s your absence. They just want to live a life without you in it.
I think that’s an important piece of nuance that gets lost in media, due to the conflation of redemption with forgiveness. Sometimes you will not be forgiven. You will not get to have the relationship back. No matter how much you work on yourself, you have to go away now. You are not welcome here. You never will be again.
And that’s okay. Victims shouldn’t be under obligation to forgive, and attaining forgiveness shouldn’t be the goal of working on yourself. It’s okay to let bridges be burnt. If someone needs your absence, it’s okay to give it to them. And it’s okay to take the better version of you that you’ve become, and move on with your life.
Because I promise you, there is something else out there waiting for the better you to find it.
Everyone reblog this. Mandatory.

The more despair I endure in life, the more I love Frodo. I’m just. I’m so glad that Tolkien wrote him like that. He was a hero and it broke him. He was given too much to carry. The circumstances were dire, everyone was doing the best they could, and Frodo tried so hard, for such a good cause, and he…broke. And the narrative has pity for him, the characters show him kindness. Even after victory, his hurts did not heal, and it isn’t considered his fault. He must go to the undying lands, to seek out peace there. In universe, he is forgiven for being human - don’t be pedantic - and his great torment is recognized. He fell. He could not have done it alone. He is still a hero.
And, I think that’s important.
Tolkien endured a war that broke its combatants this way… and it was a LONG time before “ordinary people” back at home forgave the combatants for what was widely perceived as a lack of heroism—even cowardice—when the broken came back. He was able to view that scenario with compassion long before most of British society was able to, because he’d been in it with the ones who broke.
…“Fantasy” writer, huh.
RIP Greg Hildebrandt
If you haven’t started already, start archiving/downloading everything. Save it to an external hard drive if you’re able. Collecting physical media is also a good idea, if you’re able.
Download your own/your favorite fanfics. Save as much as you can from online sources/digital libraries. Recipes, tutorials, history, LGBTQ media, etc. It has been claimed, though I can’t find the exact source if true, that some materials about the Revolutionary War were deleted from the Library of Congress.
It’s always better to be safe than sorry and save and preserve what you can. Remember that cloud storage also is not always reliable!
Library of Congress - millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, manuscripts.
Internet Archive - millions of free texts, movies, software, music, websites, and more. Has been taken offline multiple times because of cyber attacks last month, it has recently started archiving again.
Anna's Archive - 'largest truly open library in human history.’
Queer Liberation Library - queer literature and resources. Does require applying for a library membership to browse and borrow from their collection.
List of art resources - list of art resources complied on tumblr back in 2019. Not sure if all links are still operational now, but the few I clicked on seemed to work.
Alexis Amber - TikToker who is an archivist who's whole page is about archiving. She has a database extensively recording the events of Hurricane Katrina.
I'll be adding more to this list, if anyone else wants to add anything feel free!
"Male loneliness epidemic" shut the fuck up.
You don't want to be lonely? Stop being a right wing incel that repels people with your horrendous personality.
You want me to feel bad for something they do to themselves and then make all of us suffer the consequences for? Fuck off.
Queer people know what it is to be lonely and isolated, and we get from the entire society through systemic bullshit bigotry while you're just upset individual women find you to be a gross loser, and we don't make it everyone else's fucking problem when we do.
Fucking hell, if women not wanting to touch your flacid prick is your excuse to be a Nazi, then you were probably already going to be a fucking Nazi. Fuck off. I'm so tired of hearing about this.
you have to outlive donald trump

[Image description: a twitter thread by Robert Evans (The Only Robert Evans) @IwriteOK which says "people are talking a lot about buying firearms and all i am going to say right now is if you are:
1. extremely emotional over the election results and
2. have never before owned a firearm
don't go buy one right now. this is not the kind of thing you should panic buy.
"i am very pro firearm ownership and training. but the threat model now is different than it was in 2017, 2020 or last month. if you are depressed and terrified and have no experience with firearms buying one now at the height of your fear is a bad decision.
"get an IFAK. train with it. spend money on something like a wilderness first responder course. purchase storable food. learn to can. learn to forage. learn to garden. these are better and safer ways to spend money and time while on the verge of panic.
"prioritize spending resources on things that are useful and have no downside. firearms are extremely useful in one very limited scenario. knowing how to grow food, treat gunshot wounds, survive in the wilderness- none of these have downsides. all have more utility.
"these things all have extreme mental health benefits.
i enjoy shooting and gain some relaxation from it. but it also comes with dangers, particularly if you are prone to depressive swings. you can't kill yourself with an IFAK and hiking is an excellent way to regulate mood."]
I think every film critic review needs a footnote called the “fun-o-meter” where they ignore everything they said in the previous paragraphs and have to answer objectively. put it on a scale. good good to bad good to bad good to bad bad. for example. did venom get a 30% on rotten tomatoes? yes. but watching sweaty tom hardy sit in a fish tank and eat a live lobster was VERY fun. some movies aren’t meant to win awards. they’re just meant to be a hoot n a holler
this is the energy we need critics to start bringing back to the table
One of the stranger things about training brand new nurses is explaining how to min max small talk. It feels very weird to coach people on how to chat.
if I make and post an insanely detailed powerpoint on the twenty different equations I run mentally during casual conversation to make it flow better, everyone has to say that it's sexy and cool and not weird at all
remember, everyone promised to be cool! also disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer assume I said all the things you'd say to be like "i know human interaction is complicated, i know some of what i listed here would be very annoying to some people," and all that
