For African Americans/POC..
Self hate is taught on your T.v screens , radios , in your text books and if no one at home is teaching you .. You will be ignorant .
And just for a refresher , ignorant means “lack of knowledge ” or “not knowing ” ..I am ignorant to anything I don’t already know yet . And I can admit that . I am ignorant to facts I haven’t been expose to.
We speak about “change” yet how can you as a black person stimulate and expect change if you aren’t educating . People need sources , they need teachings to understand , no one just wakes up and knows all.
You must first teach self love , if one doesn’t have self love how can you expect them to love others who look just like them ?
We must recognize what this world has taught us to hate about our selves and our culture and we much break the chains on the African American mind. Little black girls are taught that their hair curls/coils are ugly .
Little black boys are taught that if they are too sensitive and too caring they are weak. We subconsciously play into the stereotypes and subconsciously allow our children to fall victim to a society that wants you to be passive. They want you to be docile and ignorant so that when wrong is being done you sit and hush and be quiet.
We as black people or even POC (people of color) are said to be inferior .. When in reality racist whites fear us , they fear what they don’t understand. We are stronger and they fear that . This is why police get a kick out of beating or killing black men. That feels like an achievement to them , as if they’ve earned a badge of honor..that is morally wrong and unethical.
If you gain knowledge and you do not continue to nurture it and grow it , then on top of that you with hold that knowledge from other black people or POC .. You yourself are another reason we can’t move forward. How can you expect us as a people to unify if we don’t come together and try to show one another? You have just partaken in the systematic oppression they’ve been feeding us for years.
The point of you gaining knowledge is so you can teach. A teacher gives resources and facts , a teacher doesn’t with hold information but gives you avenues to nurture your own knowledge.
No , I do not know everything but what I do know I share and I give way for that person to go out and expand their knowing to a degree at which they can continue to teach others . No , everyone (black person) doesn’t want to hear it and you can’t make them. But do not assume you are better than anyone because of the knowledge you’ve obtained . Is someone is wrong ENLIGHTEN THEM RESPECTFULLY .
Become a voice not only for black people but POC. Majority of blacks in America aren’t fully black , meaning they have Native American or Hispanic or white within their blood and that’s is okay. There are reasonable explanations for that. It doesn’t matter how course or straight your hair is , how much make up you wear , what clothes you like , how you speak or where you were born. YOU CAN SPEAK UP! One voice can lead many . Just one can spark the brain of a great leader one day .
African Americans as a whole either don’t want to be black , are passive about black issues( afraid) are black power driven or don’t care at all.. Which one are you going to be ? ..
