Little Big Sugar Salt has a unique menu, and considering the small amount of choices we found plenty to eat and really enjoyed it. Couldn't go past my favourite baked eggs while Emily had the breakfast board. I'm not even sure what that round thing is. The menu, plates, cups, business cards and Kiwi waiters were all adorable.

Got a bit ambitious on my 40 minute lunch break on Sunday and power-walked over to Tall Timber on Commercial Road. This pulled pork brioche bun was entirely worth it.

Red Robyn in Camberwell offers an entirely allergy-friendly menu, which is much appreciated! I would have sat there all day ordering coffees with all of their different lactose-free milks if I could have. Ordered the Dukkah eggs, which comes on pumpkin cornbread with eggplant purée, prosciutto, parsley and preserved lemon labneh. Unfortunately I'd forgotten that I don't like Dukkah. Nevertheless, I love what they're doing and I'll be back for the only coffee in Melbourne that comes with lactose free milk!

Tom Phat on Sydney Road. Had eaten way too many meals that day to really enjoy their menu, so all I could manage was some roti bread with satay sauce and a cocktail. They do an impressive happy hour with cheap drinks, and the menu looked delicious. Will be back soon with an empty stomach!

Popped into N2 Extreme Gelato to see what everyone's going on about. Was too full from lunch to order the Deconstructed Chocolate Lava Cake, so I went for the Banana Peanut Crumble. Not sure if I was too full, or if I had overdone my lactose quota for the day already, but it didn't taste that special to me. Had a few mouthfuls and took it home for the fam. To conclude, the best part was watching them make the gelato wearing their awesome goggles, and we had fun questioning the staff about the menu as well.

Went to Naked in the Sky for another relaxing Monday off. Didn't even know that Naked for Satan had opened a rooftop bar/restaurant, and I can see what all the fuss is about. The food was fantastic (yes I ate everything pictured all on my own. Save for the dessert, I'm not greedy) and the cocktails were interesting and really reasonably priced. Best croquettes I've ever had in my life. Beautiful view. Even the bitch blowing smoke right in our faces didn't kill the experience.

Continued our foodie tour of Lorne with the Mexican Breakfast at Moons. It was well worth the wait, seeing as we had already attempted to go to three cafes that were closed or shit earlier that morning. The chai was unfortunately no good though. We made up for this by visiting the River Tea House down by the river, a gorgeous home ware shop/cafe that has some ridiculous amount of teas. I bought some Turkish Apple tea that is really nice before bed and we each had a scone with jam and cream. Also there were ducks.

Had the best mini-break in Lorne this week with Emily. We stopped by Mexican Republic on the way into town and I was very impressed by the food. It had a similar feel to Fonda in Melbourne. The corn, and the tortillas with chorizo, onion jam, mushroom and goats cheese were standouts, and their cocktails were sweet and unpretentious. Woke up in the morning to discover Emily had cooked a delicious breakfast of poached eggs with prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella with olive oil, which we ate with strawberries out on the verandah. We walked around Erskine Falls, which is a must when you go to Lorne.

Popped by The Stables of Como in South Yarra and drooled over the sweet display. Was a bit disappointed to realise that it's run by the same people as Snow Pony and Friends of Mine, as I find their menu a bit dull and and it never changes. That said, their smashed avocado with a poached egg is always a winner, and the coconut and lemon slice was a delightful treat for later. Amazing set up and beautiful interiors - perfect for a sunny brunch!

Dad made this rich saffron pear and chocolate tart which was on the cover of Feast Magazine. I had to photograph it like this because the other half was already eaten.

Treated myself to a lone lunch this week. I went to Tree of Us on Church Street in Richmond and had the Tree Cheese Burger with chips. The burger was full of every kind of cheese that you'd hope for; the feta was particularly creamy and delicious.

The pulled pork burger from Brother Burger and the Marvelous Brew on Brunswick Street. A cool little place with a fantastic burger menu, plus veggie options for those pesky vegetarian friends. The apple cider was very refreshing. Great night.

Finally made it to The Hardware Societe on Hardware Street in the CBD. The baked eggs was fantastic, though deceptively tiny! I had to ask for double the toast. Chai Latte was average, and the place was very loud and cramped, but it's an adorable little place with plenty on the menu to choose from. Get there early to avoid the lines!

Finally made it to Baby on Church Street. Nowhere near as good as their other restaurant Chin Chin, but the service was good and the pizza was yummy. The pasta was a bit disappointing; I got the beef ragu and the meet wasn't really soft enough to be ragu, and everything is a bit pricey. A delightful evening though.
