I really really love Sprout and Astro’s dynamic. Astro very clearly knows more than he’s letting on and Sprout peeping that shit and being cold towards Astro as a result makes me go feral, so I made a comic based off of it ✌️

also heres the roughs tryna figure things out, trying to let myself be loose and just make things exist even if im not putting my whole blood n tears to make it fully rendered or anything

I <3 my partner cause they gave me the BEEEST idea on how to go about rewriting bits of Regan’s story, Regan being the curly haired, bloodies nose lady in the last post (sorry I never post here in my defense I haven’t been posting anything anywhere XP)

BUT BASICALLY FOLLOW ME HERE:

Regan and Esther were raised in the same church, however Regan was raised to be sacrificed while Esther was just y’know… part of the congregation

Regan would be the vessel for the demon [his name is or was the Devourer but this might be getting retconned], and so was put on a pedestal and restricted to ensure she was the perfect vessel

I haven’t pinpointed exactly how but to keep her relatively sane, Regan was allowed to interact with up to two people [children who were her age, or adults] at a time. Esther just so happened to be the one she became closest to

throughout the years the two would become closer, but Esther would be around less as he began to be tasked with venturing outside of the church to like do chores or get food from the nearest village/town [this takes place somewhere in the 1800s I think but again, this could change]

I think within a couple years of venturing out, Esther would begin to realize his feelings for Regan and would want to take her away from the church so the two could build a life similar to that of the people he saw that weren’t affiliated with the church. he wanted Regan to live a long and happy life, so he’d take it into his own hands to try and save her

he tries to sneak her out in the middle of the night, asking her to marry him so they can elope and even gives her a necklace in place of a ring until he can find/make/afford one for her. they do attempt to flee, make it to the woods, but are hunted down and captured by the congregation and as a result Esther is killed and Regan is dragged back to the church where the sacrificial ritual is moved up

blah blah blah, Regan is sacrificed, becomes a demon vessel BUT ☝️ the little bit of her humanity that’s left is focused on Esther and avenging him after everything he’d done for her and the way she holds onto Esther’s soul is with the little pendant/necklace she was proposed to with

so when she eventually masters using demons and human souls to create hellbeasts, one of the first perfect beings she makes is her lost lover so the two can be together like she always dreamed

Regan is one of my oldest I think? but her concepts have stayed pretty similar for as long as I’ve had her: being a human vessel long taken over by a demon

I’m recycling an idea that I had for another character in this universe, the other characters demon had a shtick where it was made completely of hands and I wanna give that to Regan because it plays more into the role she has as a sort of mad scientist creating hellbeasts out of human souls and demon bodies

as for Crow I’m still not 100% on what I’m looking for him to do just yet… but I can’t imagine parting with him because I feel like there’s something I’m forgetting about his character that’s just not coming back to me yet

from the little I recall he was a cult leader of some sort? but I’m not sure how much a cult will play a roll in whatever story I’m trying to spin nowadays, I’ll figure it out eventually I’m sure

Poppy’s update back in October just kinda blew by everyone, but I personally find it very interesting, especially when you take into account that she’s clearly based on Big Bird. The climax of the video is her being tormented by some unknown presence while she sits in the dark, only for…someone (the transcript doesn’t identify them, but they sound suspiciously like Frank and Sally) to burst in and ask why she didn’t open the door. Poppy simply replies “I couldn’t get out…I…am I out?” For those of you not full of Seasame Street trivia, this is how you operate the Big Bird costume:

Looks a little claustrophobic, huh? Given how much Poppy resembles Big Bird, I have to imagine you work her puppet in a similar manner. What if the people talking to Poppy at the end of her video sound like Frank and Sally, not because they are, but because those are their puppeteers? No cast or crew information has been released yet, but it makes me wonder - is that the horror of Welcome Home? After all, one of the trigger warnings of the ARG is depersonalization. Did these people who created a beloved puppet show to entertain children begin losing themselves? They stopped being able to tell their puppets from their real lives? When the take ended and they could be themselves again…were they really out?

It opens up a lot of possibility about the other characters who’ve been spotlighted already. What could the horrors they peep be saying about the people controlling the puppets? Home showing Eddie the reality of his world, Sally knowing about the presence hunting them, Julie cracking under the pressure, even Wally and Frank’s ambiguous situations in all of this…it could all tie back to the humans who control these puppets. If I weren’t so tired I might go into more depth about it, but it’s an interesting idea.

This is fun because earlier I was thinking of the analog horror video by Unknowingly! The Godzilla suit incident one! Puppeteer becoming puppet! And then I recently saw a reblog of one of Clown’s old art works with a puppet character with a bunch of guts and bugs and thought of this video.

a general rule of thumb I have in mind for Talullah is that she never, NEVER wears square pins. triangles and circles only. think I might give her more bug shaped pins too, big fan of bugs

meanwhile Kincaid gets NOTHING aside from a ring. I’ve been thinking about his work partner and I might revive in (they didn’t die I just haven’t really thought about them) so they have a part to play even if it’s a small one

Mackenzie and Talullah are inseparable and Kincaid doesn’t much care to integrate himself past colleagues maybe? so giving him a person he can relate and talk to would be nice

OKAY SO…. I have some thoughts… I don’t think I’m gonna do too many tweaks atm but some things I wanna keep in mind whenever I get around to developing them all more

- I want them all to match in color palettes more. maybe with the under color of their lab coats? overall I want them to look more like they belong together

- Tallulah’s colors are still pretty iffy in my eyes. thinking of making her glasses either blue or yellow— maybe green??

- something about Mackenzie feels off… and I think it’s the fact that he doesn’t look as off as I wanted him to. he needs to look more disheveled and tired

- thinking that Mackenzie’s weapon is some high tech guns he built himself, and all the salvia, mucus acid stuff he collects is how he powers his weapons
