i don’t usually do this, but i came across you and i figured you’d understand me more out of everybody.

recently i’ve been more proud of my culture ever since the halftime show, but once your movie came out you inspired me to be comfortable. (hispanic) but recently i’ve been getting rude comments towards me. a few days ago i commented on my spam tiktok account with a normal post and got called a “beaner” and “scratch back” (if u weren’t aware, a scratch-back is when Mexicans would crawl under the borders) i’m not even a quarter mexican.

I’m starting to feel unwelcome on social media due to arrogant people (all races have said cruel things. of course it’s not the race but the person behind it) so i was just wondering how do you stay confident to be your race or ethnicity? because im really starting to see how cruel these people can be.

I’m so sorry you have to go through that. Racism is something I’m against wholeheartedly so it hurts me to hear that you’re experiencing it.

The media has painted me out to be someone who hates being a black man but that is far from the truth. I am proud of my black heritage and black American identity. I believe one way I stay confident in that is remembering the contribution my people have made in the world. The culture, popular media, inventions and overall social influence reminds me that without my people, the world would be a boring place.

My advice to you really is so block people like that. I’ve become somewhat used to being racially ridiculed but it still upsets me from time to time. Blocking is definitely the best option.
