Last year on this day 28th January my dear friend Stuart Hudson passed away. We met at school and had a beautiful friendship that lasted 29 years. From Monday 5th Feb to Friday 9th Feb, I am donating 100% of my book sales to the charity @mindcharity . Feb 6th is Stuarts birthday and I am going to honour him by helping raise awareness and support for the charity that I know Stu would wholeheartedly encourage. At the beginning of last year I had my self published book delivered & ready but found it difficult to celebrate any kind of launch after his passing. I pushed a launch back to March and decided on @thesociallondon Heavenly records music venue/bar in London. Chosen because of Stu’s passion & love for the band St Etienne. Thanks again to all who came and to Carl, Danny & Co. His friends & family are still processing the loss and there are events planned later this year and already a half Marathon has been accomplished by @niklodge to help raise awareness for Mind in memory of Stu. It’s a positive step in desperate times but we all hope that further awareness can prevent people spiralling into life threatening problems through mental health issues. We may not be aware if someone is suffering from a mental health problem or may not feel we can talk about one. I hope this small offering can help in some way to raise awareness. Although Stu never got a copy of the book we did discuss it and I know he shared its sentiment - further details on my site about the book. Thanks for reading and if you wish to donate and receive a book please visit www.julianward.co.uk/shop - I will be setting up @mindcharity Donation page this week and will post relevant links. #mentalhealthawareness #doitforstu #allthethingsyouare (at London, United Kingdom)

George Ginn - 'The Record Album' Independent Record store, Brighton, UK
I first met George in 2012 when I was in a desperate & frantic state searching the vinyl shops of Brighton UK. My entire vinyl collection consisting of an over 30 year obsession of 'Who' vinyl and 12" 90s indie classics including The Charlatans 'Then' amongst others was mistakenly passed on to a charity shop by someone while in storage. I ventured to 'The Record Album' in hope of a result and got talking with George about his shop and collections. A shop one can get lost in for hours with its vast collection of wonderful rare film scores. George understood my attachment to my lost collection and we bonded over music, pressings, digital sound and Henry Mancini. A photographic portrait followed my initial visit which then led to some filming and talking on camera. This is in an introduction to George and his shop in Brighton. George turned 85 on 16th April 2015 and in light of Record Store Day 2015, this is to celebrate independent record shops and George as part of that.
