Hot take (lol not again): people mad about the racial implications of Claudia's Séance scene monologue really don't get her character lol
"Its clear how the series is missing a black screenwriter" sure but idk if that scene is a good reason for that point to be made at all. As a black woman viewer, I see her words to Louis as the most hurtful things a child can say about their parents, striking where it hurts in purpose. Being just FUCKING NASTY. She is a angry, vengeful spirit, and has every reason to be so. OF COURSE Claudia would go scorched earth given the chance 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️

I agree so hard with op. I am genuinely concerned by the arguments people have been giving for why they consider the writing of season 3 to be racist. It seems like a lot of people are just dogpiling without anything to backup their argument, and the people who are providing arguments are saying the most insane shit. How on earth is it considered "racist writing" for Claudia to call Louis a slave?? She is so clearly trying to say anything that will cause the most emotional damage and her position as a fellow black person who lived through the same era of horrific racism as Louis did, using such a charged term is extremely in character for the scene. I've also seen so many people bothered by the fact that Louis had to apologize to his abusers. We are all in agreement here that Louis is a victim of abuse by Lestat and Armand, but we absolutely must recognize that Louis is NOT a good person either and has been an abuser in so many cases of his own. He was abusive to Claudia and he most certainly was not a good partner to Armand (once again I would like to make sure that I am not being misconstrued. I 100% believe that what Armand did to Louis was unforgivable and Louis has no obligation to make amends with him. But I also 100% believe that the dynamic between an ex-pimp who exploited sex workers and a man who was literally sold into sex slavery as a child is very upsetting and should be addressed by both members of the relationship. His apology to Armand was so important and such a beautifully written scene, I cannot believe how much hate it is receiving).
I am not someone who gets into conflict on social media but the unjustified hate that season 3 is receiving is genuinely making me concerned for the future of television. It seems like a lot of you are uncomfortable with the fact that this show is brave enough to depict complex characters of color, and if that makes you uncomfortable then maybe you need to reflect on yourself before accusing the writers of racism. Racism is a complex fucking issue and it often involves conflict between people of color themselves. If you cannot handle this reality being portrayed in a thoughtful manner then I don't think you are ready to engage with this show. I for one will continue to cherish the series for finally allowing me to see my own people represented in the horror/gothic genre that has been exclusively white for so long.
Correct me if I have made any false assumptions, the season definitely has flaws but I just do not understand where all of the racism allegations are coming from.
