FFM 2026 Day 15 - Then They Kissed
"Why are they... staring at me, again?" Melina kept her voice low, just loud enough that the Melsir clan leader would be able to hear her without her needing to bend down to his height.
"You kinda look like their old Clan Leader, I guess." This not from the Melsir clan leader, but the Fahgi clan leader, walking with them. "Peach-ish pony, black wings, close enough to pink and black-and-pink."
"Clan Leader? Melsir? The maniac?" She choked, grimacing guiltily as the current Melsir clan leader snapped a wordless syllable at her. "Sorry, sorry, sorry, I... I don't even like fighting, and she was... volatile."
Both clan leaders looked at her in surprise. "Don't l ike fighting?" gasped the Fahgi clan leader - Alfend? Alfend. "You're a Taun! A warrior clan! A rage clan!"
The Melsir clan leader nodded in confused agreement with Alfend. "How can you not like fighting and be part of a warrior clan crew relocating a clan known for violence? Forcibly relocating, I might add."
Melina cringed. "I don't know! I just don't like it! I never liked violence."
"Oh, this is gonna be awkward if the ones who think you look like Melsir decide they like you." The Melsir clan leader - Darius, as he'd introduced himself - grinned maliciously, his expression brightening further as an idea seemed to strike him. He spun, trotting back to mingle with his clan.
"Where's he going?" Alfend peered over his shoulder as Darius ran off, then barked out a laugh. "Oh, I bet he's going to encourage his clan to 'like' you."
"Oh nooo..."
FFM 2026 Day 14 - Lavender
Lavender for Lavender. The pony giggled at her uncle's joke, squeezing a tiny bit of the lotion onto her hand and rubbing her palms together to spread it, then sticking her face in her hands and inhaling appreciatively.
"Thank youuu, Uncle Dew!"
Dewey laughed as Lavender launch-leaned against him. "Oof! Well, how could I not spoil my girl, huh? I don't get to see you enough, the way Zinvth and Trik'na fuss each other."
"We could all move somewhere else together?" the girl suggested hopefully, looking over her shoulder at her parents.
"Oh, honey..." Lavender's mother shook her head gently. "We can't afford a home big enough on our own, and Dewey can't move without losing his job, so he wouldn't be able to help us with that."
At Lavender's frustrated whine, Dewey pulled her into a deep hug. "Hey, hey, kiddo, don't fuss. You're a succubus! You should grow up with other Cubi and learn all sorts of neat tricks that your boring ol' Uncle Dew can't do. You're already so much cooler than me, just imagine how cool you'll be once you're a grown-up too!"
"Ugh, but all the other Elsis are mean to people!"
"Oh. Uhhh... hm." Dewey chuckled awkwardly as his sister and brother-in-law gave more genuine soft laughs. "Well, your mom's not mean, is she?" Cautious about where the conversation was going, Lavender shook her head. "So maybe don't spend time with the Elsis, and find other Cubi to be your friends! I've heard there are even clans who love to help people. Wouldn't that be nice?"
Lavender thought deeply for a moment, then shook her head. "I don't want to be a succubus, I want to be a spaceman."
FFM 2026 Day 13 - Benjamin
Ben tousled his hair loose, then began braiding it again. The hint had come from one of his Melsir cousins; he and his father had been mostly unsuccesful in drawing new recruits from the alliance, even before the Lady had disappeared, but his father's family knew of the Lady's grudges and weren't shy about alerting him to chances for him to act on them.
And the grudge with Kamei'Sin was a deep one.
Hair braided once more, his family demanded an answer. His Melsir heritage left him child-sized even as an adult, and he had proven before to be comfortable using his child size to pass as an actual child. They wanted him as a spy to find out what connections this new group of Kamei'Sin filth had, not because they were cautious, but because they wanted to know how many kills they should be prepared to make. And cute, innocent "Benny Melneth" was an infiltrator.
Ben tousled his hair loose again. The thought of subjecting himself to Kamei'Sin care was sickening, but it would be worth it when the time came to kill them.

FFM 2026 Day 12 - Maize
Sarah and Danielle giggled, taking turns lurching at each other in attempts to knock each other into the walls of the corn maze. They were happily lost, taking corners at random and chirping bright hellos at other wanderers they encountered on their way.
"He was cuuute," Sarah whispered as they walked away from a bulked-up cheetah, and both girls giggled shrilly as the man in question suddenly chuckled.
"He heard you!" Danielle gave Sarah yet another shove, the alligator giving a guilty little yelp as Sarah hit the wall a little harder than she'd meant her to and stumbled. "Sorry, sorry, are you okay?"
"I certainly hope so!" Both girls turned their heads as a male voice rang out, and gaped at the man who had spoken. Approaching them at an angle that implied he'd walked through the corn itself rather than taking the maze's corners as intended was a purple feline, drawing his knees up as high as it seemed they would go and then kicking his feet forward, rather than walking normally. He had a severe scowl on his face, and was dressed in a wispy lace crop-top and blue rubber short shorts, with mismatched shoes that looked like they'd be extremely comfortable to walk in for any extended period, if he were actually on the ground rather than floating in the air. "Terrible business! Women abusin' each other! Terrible business indeed! Where's the love!? Where's the appreciation!? Where's the restroom!? I've paperwork to fill and I need somewhere to sit!" And he pulled from thin air a long scroll of parchment paper and a quill pen, the feather on it matching the wings he suddenly sprouted from his head and back, revealing himself to be an incubus. The girls were silent, staring in shock, gripping at each other unconsciously. He snapped his fingers, emitting pink and blue sparkles and a slight whizzing sound as he did so. "Come on! Restroom! Where is it!?"
"Suh... southeast corner, outside, by the entrance."
"Southeast!? Terrible business! The feng shui will be off! I must correct this at once!"
Danielle righted herself, pulling Sarah to her feet, both girls watching in bafflement as the incubus headed north, the corn parting before him as he approached and closing behind him as he passed. "What was... that?"
"That," Sarah replied, "was... was..." She sighed. "I don't know, but let's get out of here before we run into him again."
Yes!

FFM 2026 Day 11 - Finally
Shawnee held clan meetings rarely. Rather, she didn't hold clan meetings at all, but every so often someone in the clan would ask for a bit of a get-together, and it was a bit of a crapshoot as to who would show up. Laurel and Devlin were both here; a good sign, as Shawnee actually talked to them. Dawnette had brought Lizette, of course - the sisters attended together or not at all. And Lyanna and Winfrede had both decided to attend, which meant things could get dicey.
"Is this it?" Lizette kicked her feet, absentmindedly stroking a finger along the gem embedded in her left ear, a magical hearing aid to counter her deafness in a world of limited technology.
Dawnette glanced around, then shrugged. "Seems so. If you hadn't wanted to come this time, I wouldn't be here either. These meetings usually aren't very big, after all." She grinned as her little sister pouted.
"So why are we here?" The million dollar question, from Lyanna. All eyes turned to Laurel and Devlin. They were the ones who had called the meeting, they were the ones who would explain it.
Devlin gestured, indicating himself as the speaker. "Shawnee is preparing to return to the public." The rest of the attenting members murmured in surprise. Their Clan Leader had been nigh invisible since ascending, even to her own clan members. For her to come out of isolation was a big deal.
Lizette tilted her head, still kicking her feet, now fidgeting with the hearing aid in her right ear. "…why?" The others hushed her, but the question had been asked.
Devlin grinned briefly, then gave a bit of a cough before speaking again. "She has been in council with the leader of a grief clan, a succubus named Premi. Together they have worked through Shawnee's motives for ascension, her… failure to achieve her goal. Premi has been able to convince Shawnee that it is time to care for her clan, and that cannot be done if she remains secluded away from us."
"So… at long last, she's decided we're good enough for her?" Lyanna, bitter. But Winfrede and Dawnette both gave cautious nods to her words.
Laurel shook her head. "She's decided she's good enough for us."
FFM 2026 Day 10 - Angel's Death
Winfrede stood silently at the back of the crowd at Justen's funeral. It was actually quite a nice day out, for which she was grateful. While rain was certainly set more of a funerary mood, it didn't do many favors to funerary clothing, or her hair. Having been an Angel himself, Winfrede was able to masquerade as an Angel to explain why she was at his funeral; Angels were getting rarer, and as such were becoming more likely to pit together in times of distress. And the murder of an Angel was certainly a time of distress. She had known him well prior to his death. They had been socializing for months, having met at the diner where she worked. He became a regular there, visiting for late-night coffee or early-morning eggs, sometimes both depending on his schedule. And Winfrede, who didn't sleep, was almost always there to greet him. She listened to the speeches of those who stepped up to the podium by the casket, held her hands silently in front of her as the priest said Justen's final farewells, and watched as he was laid to rest.
Winfrede was the one who had murdered him, of course.
FFM 2026 Day 9 - Sakura
Few things made less sense than Dimanika Cubi, but Setsuna was relatively predictable. Relatively. He always smelled faintly of fish and if he left the room he might come back with a different number of eyes or legs, but he was part of a pacifist clan and loved to socialize so he rarely did anything to get himself pushed away by anyone who wasn't already a grouch. He was heavily invested not only in SAIA's gardening classes, but also in helping his gardening classmates and tending to the Academy's functional and decorative greens alike, and even in growing fruits and vegetables for the cafeteria.
One of Setsuna's favorite gardening classmates was the Taun incubus Cedric, who could eat almost anything, which Setsuna as a goat was also capable of. It was Setsuna who encouraged some of Cedric's more "creative" recipes, and if Cedric's alleged girlfriend couldn't share in the results, he almost always saved some for Setsuna. In class, they swung wildly between collaborative and competitive. Right now, they were competing, with an assignment to make a plant bloom out of season.
Cedric's flowers were impressive, but Setsuna had grown a tree.
FFM 2026 Day 8 - Melsir
"Melsir, Melsir!"
The pony laughed, hearing her clan call out to her. Ascending had never been her intention, but now that she had, life had become so wonderful. It wasn't just the power, but the connection, the true, deep, intimate connection she felt with them now.
"Melsir, Melsir!"
The pony sobbed, hearing her clan call out to her. Ascending had never been her intention, but now that she had, life had become so overwhelming. It wasn't just the responsibility, but the connection, the true, deep, inescapable connection she felt with them now.
Intimate. Inescapable? Her clan was strong. They could take care of themselves for a while.

Flash Fiction Month is an annual writing event, where authors are given optional prompts and the odd challenge to write every day in July. This piece features two characters who starred in a 2021 FFM piece, though I never uploaded it to tumblr.
FFM 2026 Day 6 - Jordan
Flash Fiction Month is an annual writing event where authors are given optional prompts and challenges every day for the month of July. I'm fuck-all behind on FFM this year, so I decided to cheat a little by doing "less original" work and basing my overdue submissions on characters I already have art and personalities for. This piece is for the Ambrosia-clan succubus Jordan, and - briefly - her lover.
The prompt I chose is "Love is a fickle emotion, but you’d think your lover would at least ASK to be the one who wields the sword at your execution."
