since in the last few drawings i’ve been drawing nude women, maybe i should do something on the opposite spectrum. I colored this with watercolors, and watched bob ross while painting this. Fun fact: Bob ross raised squirrels.

a spread from one of my sketchbooks. The one on the right is actually a redraw of a drawing i did in 8th grade. I was OBSESSED with soul eater in 8th grade. I mean, i really like it now, but all my drawings were either of soul eater characters, or based off of them. That girl’s dress is almost exactly like tsugumi’s outfit from soul eater not., and the cat is pretty much blair. I still thought it was cute, so i drew it again, because i was out of ideas.

I did the outline in traditional at to achieve the textures. I would actually do this all the time when i was first starting out digital art, but I haven’t done it in years so i thought i would try it again.

My grandma got me some japanese calligraphy ink and brushes, so i decided to try them out. I was surprised that i could get more than one color out of it.

Maya is kind of a more expression filled character, so it was a lot easier to come up with dynamic poses for her. On the other hand, it seemed like every drawing i did of Hyong looked the same, so his page is not quite as full.

i ended up finishing the drawing that spilled the tea all over. I practiced some gradients. I think it went pretty well on the snakes and skin, but the shirt did not blend well. The colors were too different, but i didn’t have any transition tone for that one.

i decided to draw in a simple, flat style.

i spilled tea on a drawing that could’ve been great. Now it’s just a mess.

it was certainly fun to color that whole background black, and inhale all those sharpie fumes. No regrets. It was also really hard to draw soul’s face. My previous attempts made him look like a crackhead, so uh . . . yeah, glad i was able to fix that.
