Okay, I know it’s been ages, so here’s what I’ve been working on for the last month or so. For Celebration 2017, a group of us got together to embrace the rogue/rouge typo and do a “Moulin Rogue One” group. We had a great range of characters, with more to come for DragonCon! 

I went with First Order Officer on the outside, Resistance Spy underneath, an idea that spawned from the hat I made for Dapper Day last year and a pack of patches I received as a gift for Christmas (The patch on the garter says “Join the Resistance”). I based the dress itself off of Nini’s costume from “Moulin Rouge”, except for the top, which is basically just a reimagined First Order officer bodice. Most of the fabric I had in my stash already, except for the black grosgrain faille and one or two others. The First Order symbols were all cut by hand, and I hand pleated the red ruffle around the outer skirt. The rest of the ruffles were all done by ruffler foot, which is the real hero of this whole project.

Overall, I had a blast, and I forgot how much I love building a costume from the ground up. I can’t wait to do it again (with improvements?) at DragonCon.

The pipeline crosses the Missouri River just north of Standing Rock’s tribal boundaries endangering sacred lands and invaluable cultural heritage. The Standing Rock Sioux tribe has tirelessly fought to stop this pipeline which was already rejected from crossing the Missouri near Bismarck due to it’s potential threat to Bismarck’s water supply.

This pipeline is not in our environmental best interest and I ask the Army Corps of Engineers to take these issues into serious consideration when compiling its environmental impact report.

I had no idea he deliberately assigned 7 openly gay ambassadors.

But the article is right, Rufus and his husband (in the photo) have been immensely popular here in Denmark considering he’s “just” an American ambassador. It certainly helped that they chose to get married in Denmark in the very hall where the first legally recognized same sex union in the world happened.

The queen even held a big goodbye party for them, and today his departure was cover news about how “everybody loves Rufus”.

God have mercy on the next ambassador assigned by Trump.
