Day 181: Gross Pi Hey Errrrrybody- happy Pi day! Sorry I’m late to the game with this but…. HERE’S A PI DAY GROOVE!!! So, what makes it a Pi day thing? Numbahs. For instance, the chord progression is Em7 C(9is) F6(M7maybe?) Dm7 orrrrrr 3 1 4 2 of C! Then, the drums- the first drum (kick) hits 3 times while the second (clap) hits once and the third (hat) hits 4 in the course of a half measure! Finally, the melody is (in scale positions) the first 144 digits of Pi:

New Year, New Stuff!
Hey guys! I just wanted to give a quick update- it is a new year after all! Last year was a neat one- I did a lot of different things (tour, more art, etc.), and I had some depression and things to deal with that changed my workflow and interests for the projects I was expecting to do. However, I still feel like it was a pretty good year full of learning and such. Also, I know Groove of the Day has been down for quite some time now, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut- IT WILL RETURN IN EARLY 2016!!!! ...not right now though. The month of January will be spent working on my chops on some new instruments (I have a trumpet now!), making ocarinas for money, and otherwise preparing things. February will be spent doing one of my favorite annual traditions: the RPM Challenge! Not sure exactly what I’ll be doing this year, but I’m excited to make something in album form again. So yeah, come March, I believe Groove of the Day will return. I want to do it differently this time around, but I’m not totally sure what that means yet... I might meaning doing 30-100 at a time, it might mean doing more collabz, it might mean daily progress towards bigger songs, it might mean all these things......... but, it will return for at least a little while! Hey guys- I know that the end of Guest Month has kinda fallen apart, and I haven’t posted anything of my own in lord knows how long, but GotD will return! I’ve had some things in my personal life that have needed attention in a pretty time sensitive manner, and I thought it would be best to focus on them rather than shy away from things under the pretense of “oh, well I gotta make a Groove so I can’t confront this as a real human”. I know that excuses are lame, but this was a personal choice that I’m hoping will feel right in the long run. I guess what I’m saying (for those of you that follow this): 1. Sorry for the flakiness. 2. Groove of the Day will return soon! 3. There will be more Justice Eats Trees songs, despite the seemingly endless nature of Guest Month 2/Guestfinity (it’s been really amazing though- thank you and mad props to literally everyone who contributed!). 4. Day 508: Do Not Understand the Earl (by Stellar Tenants) Scallion or green? Known but unseen, or no mouth and must scream? Either’s a screen, just cracked enough to tell it’s dying. I want you all, but want you all more, now she’s my excuse for all the before when I would compress folders to avoid bumping eyes or her hirsute thighs. You can tell that mine are smoother than sine from condor-ing for pack-dog value. Strive for opaque, just come out fake, and orange blinking. Now and then, man I don’t know how you do it. Barely there and forever overdone, all the time I’m so bad at being present. You can give everything to everyone and still run. What’s going on? I should tell mom. But who could need it drawn, when it’s foregone, that knowing me and knowing you there’s little to do. Sleek, white, and true, I keep it at “good” cause I know that I think I should, Quarks will gluon. I will move on. You won’t see me wrong, I won’t be long, not revisionist if it’s now. Snake in a shell, leaf-tail in hell and just as slimy. Look all around so I’m never seeing clearly. I forget that I only want you when you near me. Hi howdy hello, still no Isaac today but he sent me some prompts. I had to use Bb maj, F#min, Gmaj, and Dmin7, and then he also gave me a list of words to use but I am not telling you those because they will seem insincere. Yesterday (when I made this and eventually fell asleep uploading it) was dad’s birthday, so I thought it fitting to use only his stuff and also just be in the room next to him while not being around him. So the main chordboard is a Yamaha P of some kind, then there’s a lot of Microkorg, and Ion electronic drums. The vocals I recorded when mouses were definitely stirring or doing something more unsavory at 4:00 in the morning in an empty storage closet on the first floor of dad’s building. The synth sorta sounds like World of Two. What else do you want? Thanks as always, see you later today or more likely tomorrow, - Zane

Day 500: Eating Alone WE DID IT GANG! 500 FUCKING GROOVES! WoooooooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOO! I finally picked a song to finish, and for some reason it was this one……? This one is pretty sad- I didn’t want to go sad for this one, but…. here we are. I’ve had a lot of ideas lately about how my life very feasibly could have hit its peak awhile ago, and now it’s all just sorta remembering how things were better. Then, I watched the Community finale (maybe series? #DISCUSS), and that really solidified a lot of those feelings, but also made them seem like a positive thing. I don’t know… I’ve been up for 22ish hours straight now after 3.5 hours of sleep so I can’t really think. I think most of the song is pretty straight forward to hear and figure out, so I won’t put lyrics or talk too much about those. All the guitar parts are the 9 string, which is DA BEST (although a little hard to play in the high range still). I wanted to go clean in a more predictable way with this one; I usually lean towards suprising and dirty, but that just felt cheesy for this one with the words being what they are and all. I want to thank anyone who’s listened to these- this has been the most productive artistic project of my life, and I feel pretty great about that. I wish you guys would talk to me more about it, because I like talking to people about music, but maybe we’ll get there some day. In the meanz, I need a break, so we have a very exciting Guest Month+ starting Tomorrow!!! Happy 500, Dudes!!! Justice McRememberThatWeWillAllDieSomeDay?
