V I C E S | Day 3: #AllVibesAnytime IG Challenge
Name 1 #Vice or way you self-soothe, self-medicate, numb/check out or avoid discomfort.
For me, it’s easy, I use SOCIAL MEDIA to not only check out but maybe in a way to self soothe with those little hits of dopamine. . I have things to do, maybe those are hard or uncomfortable things…. I’ll open SM and check for likes instead. It's a drug, checking for ‘likes and comments” . How do we get around it these days? Wanna find a business, start a company or just find information, EVERYTHING is on social media. I’d say most successful business must have a social media platform to stay relevant but I don’t work in marketing so maybe I’m wrong. . What I do know is I definitely notice that I pick up my phone way more than needed. For literally nothing, just for that little damn notification and even if there isn’t one, I’m still checking… . I have a million other things I could be doing, and want to be doing. Things that are way more fulfilling but yet, here I am checking Instagram AGAIN. . I don’t know the solution, and I’m definitely open to ideas. But in a world where people have become so accessible, am I the only one who is exhausted? Always being available, some people get offended if you don’t answer their call, text or direct message IMMEDIATELY!
Some days I’d give anything to go back to the days before cell phones. The days where people made plans and just stuck with them. You said you’d meet so and so at a certain place, then you met them there. . Maybe I need to start a support group between our group of friends that promotes a cell phone/internet blackout… start weaning ourselves off the supercomputers in our pockets??? Make it ok to not text back immediately, put our phones on “do not disturb” more often… . You know what…. Right now, seems like a good time to start ✌️
