This makes me sad. He had to poof her. He didn't want to, but he felt like he had to. It broke his heart to take away one of his own, because of her ideology. I think its also important to remember that this was the first uncorrupted gem he poofed. This wasn't a corrupted gem monster could bubble and try to heal later. This was an ally and a friend. Bismuth was a Crystal Gem.

Rebecca openly identified as a bisexual woman and talked about how the inclusion of the LGBT themes in the show come from her experiences and how important it is for LGBT kids to be able to hear these stories and be validated in ways they often aren’t. She wants to let kids with similar experiences and identities that they exist and are valid
