I lost my dad in the month of september. the day before my best friend's birthday my first day back to work from summer festivities 8 years ago and I wonder if there will ever come a time when september can just be september again.

all of these online gurus selling perfectly packaged happiness slathered in ambiguous quotes about introspective connection by other online guru-hopefuls.

a bartender of juicy, enticing thoughts we have unknowingly read and listened to thousands of other versions of but still find mesmerizing enough to buy into; to follow. to like. to share. to make ourselves feel less alone just like them.

these aren’t gurus; just ordinaries, like me

spilling their stolen thoughts and calling it profound wisdom all the while crossing their fingers that people will see them in a light they can barely fathom themselves in.

clearly and desperately searching for the same amount of attention popularity validation and acceptance as the rest of us without having to extend past the comfort of a hi-def plastic screen.
