Okay. I am beginning to recover from withdrawal and feeling a little more like myself again finally. Which means it is time to once again try to get back into being active on writeblr more regularly.

One of the best things about being a writer is thinking of something small you can add to your work that’s just. Devastating. Like you’re sitting there going. Oh. That would be diabolical. People would get really riled up about that. Exquisite. Let’s do it.

i keep using 'blorbo' to refer to my own OCs to the point i forget its supposed to be a fandom term. yeah i know blorbo from my shows. and those shows? only airing inside my own brain and the dms of a few lucky friends, baby.

First person is the character talking to you

Second person is you being put in the shoes of the character

Third person is a narrator telling the events of the characters

^ i write mainly in first person, and this is so helpful for people not understanding this

Not every scene deserves the same amount of page time. Sometimes you need to summarize three weeks in a sentence. Sometimes five minutes takes three chapters. Pacing is about emphasis. Slow down when emotions are high, when decisions matter, when everything could fall apart. Speed up through the boring necessary stuff. Your reader doesn't need to experience every meal and every conversation, just the ones that change something.

I like a jealous love interest but it has to be subtle. if the main character mentions their ex and they see a flash of emotion in the love interest's eyes or the love interest sets their glass down too hard that works for me bc it shows that they have feelings about it but they have it together and don't act on it. if the main character mentions their ex and the love interest is like "if I ever meet them I'll tear them limb from limb for having the nerve to leave a gorgeous person like you heartbroken" that sucks to me
