Opening her eyes when she had heard this man pick, Enid glanced over, and suddenly, her world stopped.The bat had landed at Ryan. “...No” She mumbled, before shaking her head quick. “No! Please!” They were kids! Kids that shouldn’t have even been there in the first place. None of this should have been happening. Ryan didn’t deserve this.
With her chest heaving, she looked up at the man who called himself Negan. “Please! You don’t--This doesn’t have to happen!” She managed through broken sobs. Somewhere beside her, she could hear Ryan was crying too, though even at a time like this he was trying to calm her down. Assure her that everything would be okay. It wouldn’t. He was lying. How was she supposed to go on without him?
“Please!” She tired again, before jerking forwards, managing to grab onto Negan’s pant leg when he brought the barbed bat back. “No!” she cried out, though was forced down on the ground with a gun at the back of her head. They were kids.
Struggling more, she turned her head just in time to see the bat come crashing down on Ryan’s head. Hearing the sicking CRACK as it hit it’s mark making her scream louder as blood splattered across her cheeks. As Ryan slumped forwards, a slurred wheezing whimper falling from his lips, Enid squeezed her eyes closed.
She didn’t want to remember him like that--Though knew she would have nightmares forever about it-- Behind her eyelids, she saw Ryan smiling, taking her hand. Chasing her through the woods, grabbing her and hugging her, kissing her in the shade of the trees. Pointing at stars, giving her a rabbits foot, laughing about maybe luck. Some luck.
Opening her eyes again, she watched as Negan brought the bat back again, and swung once more, this time knocking Ryan back, ripping through skin and bones like it was nothing and not letting up. Struggling again, she kicked her legs, screaming at the top of her lungs, sobs shaking her body.
“Do it!” She cried out when her life was threatened by the savior on her, ignoring the screaming pleads from Glenn and Maggie--And was that Carl? Rick?-- to stop.
When Negan finally ran out of breath and stopped. The person that he had been beating just wasn’t Ryan anymore. It was a body with a puddle of blood where the head should have been. Enid didn’t move off the ground when the Savior got up, now simply staring beside her at what once was Ryan, tears sliding off the bridge of her nose and onto the ground, at some point she had reached out, and wrapped two of her fingers around Ryan’s.
She didn’t move when Negan walked away. She didn’t move when Glenn crawled over to her. Didn’t answer when she was spoken to. She might have well been dead herself. She laid there, staring at Ryan’s body. She was gone.
