Friendly reminder that while Reggie being a big not fan of yelling is a fantastic head canon and one I personally subscribe to, Luke would also likely really not deal well with being yelled at, and would probably either very easily get riled up and yell back then be really ducked up about it for days or he’d get upset immediately when yelled at 💜
you are extremely correct, once again, but may i just add:
i think both reggie and luke would be extremely aware of shifts in mood from other people and get fairly nervous about sepcific things/overinterpret situations like, luke would probably get nervous about someone putting down a glass very forcefully, or sighing loudly and in a specific way that reminds him of how emily would get when she was annoyed. he'd also have a very keen sense of how exactly people talk to him and try to match that and only yell when he's being yelled at first because that is fair and treating each other the same way. but he'd also try to placate people when he thinks they're mad, even if they aren't and double-check if they are annoyed or not, and pull back if he thinks they are and not play music then because when he played music while emily was already annoyed they always ended up yelling.
i just think that luke is a lot more fucked up by his relationship with emily than he lets on/is aware of, that is all
Yeeeet you’re incredibly valid and I agree totally
Also: Reggie would be aware of things but he would not try to placate anything at any time ever, he would just leave or shut down if things started getting tense
I mean it’s pretty much canon that Reggie and Luke both hate shouting/screaming - in Wake Up when Julie went into the studio with the cross, they both seemed really nervous when she screamed. Reggie looked really startled and immediately put his hands up in a defensive position, Luke stepped back and he went from grinning to looking really upset and avoiding eye contact. So their reactions were different, but they both hate shouting
Aye yeah, I just also meant like argumentative and conformational yelling which can be different, and which there isn’t really any of in the show, but yeah!
Luke definitely memorizing the sounds of people footsteps. When Julie comes into the garage he doesn’t have to look up to know it’s her and at first it freaks her out because, how tf did he know? And when he tells her that he knows whose coming by the sounds of their footsteps like it’s normal she gets sad.
Reggie on the other hand knows how to get places without making any noise. At first, because he’s a ghost, it doesn’t matter, but he does it out of habit. Maybe they become corporeal or come back to life or something, regardless, when this happens he already knows the quietest routes through the house and garage. He sneaks up on Ray one too many times (on accident!) and ends up explaining that he found the quietest ways to get around his house because if he made any noise his parents arguing would turn on him. So if he made no noise they would just forget he existed.
