Lee Narae, a tempestuous, kind heartened, and troubled girl.  Who despite the chains that plague her to her past, attempts to break free of her loneliness and polaroids of the past.  With a crippling fear of fire, the absence of her family, and an ability to sketch hints of foresight, she attempts to adapt to living a simplistic, normal life.  The future…however, has another idea in store.

Lotus...

Something had felt off the past few days.  Narae’s hands flew with sketches of lotus blossoms and black ink that stained against the textured paper.  Black smudges remained stained against the tips of her fingers over the past week, blending the shadows and light variations, the details coming into her mind as clear as if she were looking at the picture completed.  When detail came this clearly, it usually meant one of her intuitions would ignite, or a meeting of someone she’d come entwined with.

Narae looked up from the paper she had been sketching on, the one pencil she had brought with her remained in her bag, the paper only met with her eyes skimming over the image of the Lotus.

Oh thank you I ended up changing the face claim halfway through!! Ill have to fix that when I get home tomorrow!

It’s the first day that warmth seeps into even the night, scorches the white leather of his car, turning it into a stuffy suffocating box. It forces him to roll down all four windows just to simply breathe, fill his lungs with precious oxygen and fan himself through the sticky heat collecting under his lapel.  Much too accustomed to the chill of winter, Soohyuk finds himself sweating through jacket and all, peeling off layer by layer with each stop on the way through the neighboring town. It’s a trip he’s taking for necessities, a smothering black nylon rope, a pair of new hiking boots and a rather generic pair of leather gloves already sit in a shoe box in the back of his seat with one of his favorite silver pieces. It’s the parking that’s always the trouble however. A long drive like this one turns him irritable, makes it much easier to force the car in front of him forward and slide into his space with a practiced ease. Dark hair spills over his face, gel long sweated out of his new hair cut, and the wind catches him on the way out the car, cutting the bronze of his skin a hot and sandy red. He relents, slipping into the first corner store in his line of vision, pocketing his keys and watching the door slam behind him.  He smiles at the woman with pretty sherbet lips, pushes his hand through his hair and gazes across a row of dusty boxes. “Tell me, what do you have here?” Soohyuk, taps the metal of one of the endcaps, eyes glazing over the peeling labels–the match her glossy lips, he realizes as he brings his attention back to her. “A little bit of everything, I assume?”

She greets the man, noting the black gloves draped across his large hands, the manner in which he presents himself.  He’s full of confidence, she can see it in the simplest movements of his body language.  Man men had come in before with that walk, and more often than not some lewd remark poured pass their lips, attempting to coo her through sweet words.

This man was different however.  Rather than so filling her ears with flirtatious nonsense he had motioned to the boxes that had remained there so long that dust began to create a fuzzed blanket over the cardboard.

A puzzled expression came across her face as he prompted the question, Narae unsure of where he was going with his questioning or if he was simply being inquisitive.  “Yeah, it’s been sitting there for a minute, we haven’t had much luck with it.”  

Lifting her hand Narae tucked a few long strands behind her ears, revealing the glimmer of her earrings.  “Is there something you were lookingn for though?”

Sorry for late responses, my aunt recently died and finding wifi is a bitch with this side of the family (There’s a reason I moved to the city!).  Thursday I will be flying out to Korea so my connection will be spotty then as well, but I will attempt to keep up as I am new!

Each drag of the cancer stick lingered against the palate of her tongue.  A small group surrounds Narae, full of conversation and drunken moments of glee.  As they continue in their spirits she lifts a drink to her lips, taking a sip as her fingers encircle the bottleneck before the swig is complete.  

The few remaining embers she had against the white paper curled, blackened down to the filter.  A pout came from her lips, not feeling the need for nicotine satiated. 

“Anyone have a cig I can bum? I just finished my last.”

OPEN THREAD:

“Here’s your change...” Narae had spoken in a respectable tone.  Despite her manner of dressing with a pair of pants decorated with holes, a white t-shirt, and a black jacket; she was quite the hard worker.  And as the last customer had exited her store she had bowed her head in a soft manner of respect before returning back to the image she was sketching.

It was a lotus blossom.  Full of vibrant color that shaded from simple, cheap color pencils that she had purchased just days before, the sharpened tips already becoming nubs.

A jingle of the store’s bell echoed through her pierced ears, her figure straightening up as she let out a soft greeting upon entry.

“Hello.”
