I've just discovered Vashti Bunyan

Shame on me for not being broad minded enough to explore and find her earlier. Beautiful singer and songwriter. As I'm reading it in depth, her story is pretty incredible, I recommend it. This is an extract from her website describing her year of 2003;

2003

New recordings too different, too much not VB. Keep for future. Stephen Malkmus sends invitation to sing at Down The Dustpipe, Royal Festival Hall, London. Simon off to Barcelona so asks Kieran Hebden to accompany, with Adem and Fiona Brice. Trembling knees and wonderful audience. Kieran Hebden tours ‘Rounds’ - with Animal Collective – meet for dinner. Kieran says “You know these guys all have JADD..” wonder why when they are from Brooklyn. Still think no one knows, no one has heard of it. Devendra Banhart sends cd of new songs asking for some voice over the top. Rejoicing in the hands. Rejoicing in such friendship and faithfulness. Young God makes offer to put out JADD in USA and record new VB songs but………

Crime - Real Estate

I went to see Real Estate in Shepherds Bush last night. They played tons of new stuff, and I couldn't be more excited for the new album. They've absolutely mastered their genre, resulting in the shows being absolutely perfect. Guitar wizardry, layered up with what seems to be some kind of formula. Afterwards there was an after party and Matt (Ducktails) played a solo show in Notting Hill. I get bloody lucky down here. They posted this new song today anyway, dreamy.
