Story...
Celeste: I care about you, I really do. But... this time... (looks away from staring directly to his eyes) Andre: But you got fed up. I understand. Celeste: No, it's not really like that... Andre: But, it's somehow like that correct? Celeste: y..es... (she says almost silently) Andre: I'm sorry. (Celeste lifts up her head in awe of what she just heard) Celeste: what are you sorry for?
Women empowered through art
Art can be a medium to self-expression where you can showcase your emotions and the darkest of your secrets. Two female artists, a local artist from Batanes, Philippines and an African-American artist from Atlanta, Georgia, not only are excellent in their craft but also shares sentiments that their countrymen and/or fellow will relate to were brought to light in this article.
Pacita Abad
The aesthetic of Pacita Abad's painting is characterized by color, constant change and experimentation which is evident on all her works from the year 1970 upto her passing on 2004. Pacita is also known for her vibrantly, colorful, mixed media painted textile collages, abstract assemblages, and trapunto paintings. Pacita has worked almost on all types of medium that ranges from paper, bark cloth, metal, ceramics and glass. Throughout her career Pacita also has worked on colorful prints, paper collages.
Her early paintings were considered to be figurative, socio-political works of people, refugees and tribal masks drawn from her experiences in Africa, Asia and Latin America. These paintings had led to her work entitled “American Dream" which was an immigration series. Another body of work consisted of large scale nature paintings based on her love of underwater scenery, animal wildlife and tropical flowers. A disciplined and prolific painter, Pacita created over 4,500 artworks and, among her public art projects painted a 55-meter long bridge in Singapore and covered it with 2,350 multicolored circles, just a few months before she died.
The life of Pacita Abad is as colorful as her works, not only did she painted wonderful work of arts but also painted a notion that Filipinos specifically women have a place on this industry that they too can be empowered through art, and even after her passing her legacy lives on.
Emma Amos
Amos is a postmodernist artist, who uses different medium and disciplines to create art or to what others have coined on her as a “seamless work of art”.
Her usage of African textiles resembles her heritage; being an African-American she uses her heritage as an inspiration. Through her works, she also explores issues such as politics, gender and race and incorporates those to her works. Her works were considered to be highly expressive, her works were mostly a combination of two or more disciplines such as printmaking, painting, and textiles with photography and collage. She is not only known as a painter but also as a teacher, curator, writer, and activist.
The works of her hand are exceptional, her paintings with African fabric which were also made by Amos. the texture of her works resembles “African diaspora”, to which she seems to tell a story about her heritage.
One of the most anticipated part of the Holy Angel University days are the RIDES. Whatever mood you’re in, either you want to go up, down or want to turn around and make your world go round the choice is yours to make.
It was a blockbuster in every ride, ferris wheel, round up, hammer and octopus. Everyone was patiently waiting for their turn. People were enjoying while having their ride. You can see the excitement on their faces, everyone was screaming and shouting never thinking and maybe doing a reverse psychology that nausea is not at all part of their vocabulary and still continues to venture every ride there is.
Faces of HAU-days; People who become part of celebrating University Days
When you ask or when you talk about school related happenings or parties, there is only one school that will always come to mind, the largest university in Central Luzon, and that is Holy Angel University (HAU). The HAU University Student Council (USC) made it sure that they will not disappoint the expectation of the audience especially alumni and teenagers because they are the ones who excitedly look forward for this event.
It’s always a jam-packed celebration because not only the HAU community get to experience annual celebration, but also the outsiders from nearby towns and universities. Some after a day of work went to relax and have a good time.
Not only does the HAU University Days serve as a break for the HAU Community but it also serves as a venue for the students and staffs to express their inner “fashionista”, by dressing whatever floats their boat.

Foodies delight
The three day celebration of Holy Angel University (HAU) University Days 2014 made the campus community and nearby public very excited for this grandiose event. Aside from university days’ activities/events, everyone is looking forward for the food booths. There are a wide variety of foods to choose from--- from main dishes up to desserts.
Just to boost your appetite, some booths offer various snacks like the staple streetfoods such as“kwek-kwek” and other ihaw-ihaw like isaw(chicken intestine), atay(chicken liver) and the like. If you are craving for the “sosyal” local and even foreign brands are also present. For the sweet-toothed, Krispy Kreme is just ‘round the corner if you’re a pizza lover Pizza Hut is just a walk away. To quench your thrist after having delicious food, every stall has its own unique beverages—pearl shakes, milk teas, juices like the classic iced tea and sodas.
Of course, everyone is waiting for their desserts. Different flavors of donuts, colorful cotton candies, the freshest of fruits topped with cream and many more just to have a sweet ending of your food trip inside the campus.
Indeed, it would not be complete if food is not in your to-do-list when going to HAU University Days. Thus, having good food with your good friends during the campus’ celebration is truly a moment to cherish and treasure.

HAU Celebrate its 80th Birthday Victoriously
The largest university in Central Luzon turns 80. Holy Angel University’s (HAU) University Days Opening Night was a blast. Despite of the issue last year the university just surpassed another trial as it faced the New Year with colourful and radiant event. With its theme “Sinag” with 8 rays representing the 8 departments of the University, the HAU University Days 2014 truly shined.
The night was a showcase of talents and God-given gifts of students from high school to college. Not to mention the singing, dancing and interpretative presentation of the students added flavor to the night.
Hooray! Shouts of students heard from the top of their lungs at the center of the university where the opening night was held. University student council made it again and became a big part of the success of the night. It was indeed victorious.
Starting with an interpretative dance from selected students of the theater team, succeeding with the singing and opening of the event. The audience were astonished and surprised as the event ends with fireworks.
That night surely ended but one thing is for sure, the show will remain forever in the memory of the students and teachers present that night. It’s not your ordinary opening night. Breath-taking, barricade-breaking, and it’s just the beginning.
