Look at me. We'll live, okay? Together. There are sunsets to see, prairies to frolic through and lovers to hold. I promise things will pass, with us past them. We'll come out on the other side, where trans girls laugh and love, where queer people and immigrants can find homes and each other, and where the sun will shine still.
Sending love to all the american women who today were given the worst news. I deeply hope you stay safe and take care of yourself! What America has done today is to destroy the future of so many people. And to those who did vote for Trump, I hope you will carry the guilt for years to come.
Keep going. Live on in spite of those who want us dead. Build community. Hold tight to those close to you. Survive. It's your solemn duty to survive above all else now.
To all the trans people who see this tonight, no matter what happens, we will survive. Trans people will still be here 4 years from now and 10 years from now and 100 years from now and tomorrow. We have always existed and we always will. The world cannot unlearn about us; we are too public, too loud, too beloved, too present. Ill be here tomorrow. Please stay here with me.
‼️🛑 Don’t ignore this. Please help my autistic child live a normal life and help my family survive death. Hello, I am Doaa from Gaza 🍉. I apologize for what I'm about to ask. I have a heavy and tired heart. Unfortunately, the situation became difficult after I left Gaza, and I did not receive any assistance to treat my child and help us live except through you and your donations. . A donation of just $20 from each person, $20 will save my child and my family in Gaza. $20 equals 220 Swedish krona. I lost my home, my workplace, everything, and I don’t know whether or not I will bear all this responsibility outside Gaza to help my child and my family, but I know that your help will contribute to saving my child and my family. Sorry about all this.
I unfortunately don't have the means to donate right now, but I will put a link to your fundraiser here so that more people can see it. I wish the best for you and your son, as well as the rest of your family in Gaza.

170 hours later and this behemoth project is completed. After being moved to tears three times by Dr. Alareer's poem, I needed to create something. Hopefully this honours his memory.
Hoping to get some funding from local orgs to get this printed into a physical booklet for distribution.
How Poetry Became a Tool of Resistance for Palestinians by Armani Syed
"For displaced Palestinians, poetry is a space to rebuild their homeland through words, and make it “visible through such vivid and relatable language so anybody in the world could read that poetry and be somehow moved by it,” Alshaer says."

hey pro life tip. name your files whatever you want but maybe rename them if you're sending them to important people. because one day you'll be applying to your actual dream job and not realise until later that they can see the file names of the art you sent
I love how they left out the part about them giving out the lesbian couple’s personal information to send them death threats, running them out of their home, and encouraging other fundies to petition to have their children taken away. **examines fingernails**
Also the fact that they raised half million dollars from other raging homophobes to fund this bigotry. I hope the dickholes lose the shirts off their backs and have to live out of a van. But that’s too much to hope for.
I just wanna add that the lesbian couple were getting married because their mutual friend had just died of cancer and they were adopting her two daughters… and that the death threats were so bad that they had to quit their jobs and move. it’s never just about a cake. it’s about the precedent you set when you allow ppl to discriminate. it’s about all the disgusting bigots that crawl out of the woodwork when they feel like they have the right to hate.
"Should parents read their daughter's texts or monitor her online activity for bad language and inappropriate content?"
Earlier today, I served as the “young woman’s voice” in a panel of local experts at a Girl Scouts speaking event. One question for the panel was something to the effect of, “Should parents read their daughter’s texts or monitor her online activity for bad language and inappropriate content?”
I was surprised when the first panelist answered the question as if it were about cyberbullying. The adult audience nodded sagely as she spoke about the importance of protecting children online.
I reached for the microphone next. I said, “As far as reading your child’s texts or logging into their social media profiles, I would say 99.9% of the time, do not do that.”
Looks of total shock answered me. I actually saw heads jerk back in surprise. Even some of my fellow panelists blinked.
Everyone stared as I explained that going behind a child’s back in such a way severs the bond of trust with the parent. When I said, “This is the most effective way to ensure that your child never tells you anything,” it was like I’d delivered a revelation.
It’s easy to talk about the disconnect between the old and the young, but I don’t think I’d ever been so slapped in the face by the reality of it. It was clear that for most of the parents I spoke to, the idea of such actions as a violation had never occurred to them at all.
It alarms me how quickly adults forget that children are people.
Apparently people are rediscovering this post somehow and I think that’s pretty cool! Having experienced similar violations of trust in my youth, this is an important issue to me, so I want to add my personal story:
Around age 13, I tried to express to my mother that I thought I might have clinical depression, and she snapped at me “not to joke about things like that.” I stopped telling my mother when I felt depressed.
Around age 15, I caught my mother reading my diary. She confessed that any time she saw me write in my diary, she would sneak into my room and read it, because I only wrote when I was upset. I stopped keeping a diary.
Around age 18, I had an emotional breakdown while on vacation because I didn’t want to go to college. I ended up seeing a therapist for - surprise surprise - depression.
Around age 21, I spoke on this panel with my mother in the audience, and afterwards I mentioned the diary incident to her with respect to this particular Q&A. Her eyes welled up, and she said, “You know I read those because I was worried you were depressed and going to hurt yourself, right?”
TL;DR: When you invade your child’s privacy, you communicate three things:
You do not respect their rights as an individual.
You do not trust them to navigate problems or seek help on their own.
You probably haven’t been listening to them.
Information about almost every issue that you think you have to snoop for can probably be obtained by communicating with and listening to your child.
Part of me is really excited to see that the original post got 200 notes because holy crap 200 notes, and part of me is really saddened that something so negative has resonated with so many people.
I think that one of the things often left out of this conversation is age and development. If your child is six, then yes it’s appropriate to effectively stand over their shoulder and guide them. If your child is 12, then no, it’s not!
You should never, ever go behind your kid’s back - but for small kids, it is reasonable to ask if you can see stuff. Out in the open. And then talk about it. Like your kid is a competent individual with their own thoughts and feelings. It is your job as a parent to keep your kid safe, which means educating them about what danger looks like; privacy, both the need for it and the right to it, grows with age. Parents often get stuck at the level of supervision appropriate to a kid of 5-7; that’s what needs to be addressed with them.
Everything above is spot on; this is not a disagreement - it’s an addition.

Venezuela, a country in South America, has had the same party and political group under power for more than twenty years. In recent years it has encountered one of the greatest crises at an economic, political and social level, causing currently 8 million Venezuelans to have had to emigrate from their country, being one of the countries with the most migrations. Last weekend they underwent elections in which there is video evidence of how the public voted against the dictatorial regime of their current "president" Nicolás Maduro. When the count was carried out, the government in power carried out electoral fraud, causing the discontent of the people, who decided to march peacefully to defend their vote, to which the government of Nicolas Maduro chose to violently repress the Venezuelan people, innocent children, adolescents, elderly people, adults are being murdered, people kidnapped or detained. Please, we need worldwide disclosure so that this does not continue to happen, so that these injustices stop. I know that everyone is going through complicated situations and that everyone has their political beliefs, but we cannot allow injustices like these to continue happening, that innocent people continue to die for demanding their rights!
Hello. I'm really sorry I haven't updated here, I really don't know how many people are going to see this. The place in the photo above is called Catia, it is a popular lower-middle class area close to where I live.
Currently in Venezuela the largest electoral fraud in its history is occurring. Thousands of people around the country are protesting against A DICTATORSHIP that has left the minimum wage in misery, economic support for elderly adults in almost nothing, and universities in ruins thanks to the fact that the governors steal the money. money that is destined to fix them. There are few artists or public figures in my country who say anything about it, since many of them have bought their silence. Please, many in our peaceful protests have been kidnapped by the national guard, and they are minors. They are transferred to El Helicoide, the largest torture center in the country.
I am currently serving first aid during the protests, but I also fear for my life. There are seniors and many young people with us. Today a guard almost stole my cell phone.
You would help us a lot as a nation by reblogging this and spreading it, thank you very much. May the virgin bless you.
Well, unsurprisingly, KOSA passed the Senate procedural vote 86-1.
Proof:
Again, they still have to vote on the final passage & the House still has to vote on it as well.
So, focus on your House Representative now; Continue to call them & tell them to vote ‘No’ to KOSA. Remember: There is more opposition to KOSA in the House.
