Thank you to everyone who commented in their tags or messaged me. Indeed, today is “Martin and Bosco Day”. I originally whimsically blazed this photo on 13 July 2022. I never expected Martin and Bosco to travel so far and make so many new friends. The experience has been such a gift for me.
I am a huge autistic loser (obvious) and recently got into umamusume, so, as one does, I created an OC for it. Meet Neo Fantasy! A trainer of Umamusume, while being an umamusume herself! she is based on the Irish Cob, a cold-blooded (non-race horse) horse! And, for good measure, I gave her kissing spine. genuinely, this may be a controversial thing to say on Tumblr, but Twitter has character limits and I need someone to hear my rant.
Tiny bit inappropriate, so I am going to let you decide if thats something you can handle today.
I hate phrases like, "Ship, and let ship" or "Don't like, Don't read" because EVERYTIME someone uses them, its to defend a morally complex dynamic that they have reduced into fetishist pornographic slop.
I think portraying a victim in media as someone who doesn't recognize whats happening to them as abuse, or even is still in love with their abuser, is fine. Because I was that victim when I was being sexually abused, I GET it. But reducing them down to someone who gets physically aroused when their partner hits them/abuses them/rapes them, is fucking disgusting.
Same goes with having 'problematic OC's', most of the time, the people creating those characters don't have the writing or cognitive ability to create complex morals, or address topics that have roots in systematic oppression, or misogyny or racism, so it ends up just reading like a fantasy told from the view of the abuser, or an outsider, not the victim.
And maybe i'm being too harsh, a lot of people who write this stuff probably HAVE experienced what they're writing about, but I don't think they are in a place of their processing where they can look at something like that, and genuinely write a compelling, and complex story, without having their own romanticized ideals of their own trauma.
I know this probably reads like a bunch of buzzwords or whatever the fuck, I don't care. this is just how I talk. Sorry if its a bit too rambly, or comes off excessively harsh, I am super autistic, and cannot appropriately use tone in text in a way that makes it clear I am not trying to point fingers at anyone.
But, if you read this, and feel genuine, real anger towards me for my lukewarm take, instead of flexing the muscles in your fingers to type up a rebuttal, reflect. What, do you think, has made you feel so strongly for rape or abuse fetishists? why feel the need to defend the media you read? what makes you enjoy that media?
