it wasnât like this was abnormal. silver had gotten used to gold skipping, but he didnât like that things were this way. it didnât help goldâs grades at all. he used to make more of a fuss about it, but stopped when he realized it wasnât making much of a difference. he did, however, always take two sets of notes on days when his friend didnât go in. perhaps the other would never use them, but silver still felt it may be worth something.
âhey.â he set his bag down, taking out a few sheets of paper and walking over to gold to hand them to him. âit ended a bit early. have you been up for a long time?â silver sat down on the couch, looking at the game his friend was playing for a moment then turning his attention back toward gold. âyou know thereâs a math test soon.â he wouldnât bug him too much about it, but he felt like it would be good to at least remind him.
a glance was momentarily spared to look at the papers handed to him -- sure, he had no interest in them, but silver did take the time to write them for him, so he paused his game to take the notes from his friend, placing them next to him on the couch ( besides, gold knew deep down heâd stress over them until early morning the night of the test, so he was grateful. just a bit ).
â depends on what you consider a long time -- â gold started, thinking on the fly for some kind of excuse to save his dignity or to at least make silver not want to press the subject. â -- you canât really blame me, though, i have such a busy life! the girls donât chase themselves away, you know. â
he snickered to himself, going back to his game. playing video games involved math, too, right? so that counted as studying, didnât it? ( not like it mattered if he just decided not to go on the day of the test. )
â ... yeah, yeah, donât worry about it! my intelligence is mind-blowing. theyâll give me one look and say -- â -- a annoyingly sing-song, mocking voice replaced his usual one -- â oh, gold, youâre so smart! you donât need to take this silly test! and then iâll get an a! â
of course that wouldnât happen, but that didnât stop him from dreaming. after all, he knew heâd have to attend school to take the test, so he could keep up his lie his mother would stop worrying that he wasnât going to school.
@kaeisu continued from x.
oh.  she hadnât expected him to give her his jacket.  she seriously was just a bit chilly over at his apartment.  logically,  she could have asked for a blanket,  but then she wouldnât be able to finish her homework.  carefully,  she slipped her arms in the jacket and looked down at her homework to avoid eye contact.  this was possibly one of the only moments where she had been this flustered in her life.Â
     â t-thanks.   itâs really warm. â
if his jacket was warm,  he probably gave really nice,  warm hugsâ what was she thinking?  this wasnât the time to think of things like that.
head resting in his hands, gold kept his gaze on her, even as she turned away ( it wasnât as if he was about to do his homework ). he shifted mere centimeters closer to her subconsciously, taking in her features. sure, it was just his old jacket, but he couldnât ignore the way his heart skipped when she settled into it.
â uh-huh, no problem. â gold nodded nonchalantly. after a moment, he swallowed quietly, and with no hint of flirting or teasing in his voice ( he was grateful silver wasnât around because heâd easily notice the twinge of nervousness in his tone ), he added, â you know ... that really suits you. â
She sighed quietly to herself, turning back to the cabinet. There should be an instant ice pack in there somewhere⊠Not that she was too sure about how effective it would be at at this point, but it ought to at least help.Â
Sakura wasnât sure of what to think about the way he suddenly became so defensive over a simple question. Should she press for more details? Part of her wondered whether or not it as even professional of her (probably not, but she didnât like having such a distance from patients either). Silently, she squeezed the ice pack to activate it, instantly feeling the coolness against her palms once she had done so.Â
âIâm sorry,â She handed him the ice pack âI-I didnât mean to sound like I was accusing you of anything, I justâŠâ Shaking her head she brought back his attention to the ice pack. âYou might want to keep that on your nose for a bit. It looks a little swollen, and it should help with the bruising.â
Crimson eyes flickered down to his ankle. âDoes it hurt much? Your ankle, I mean. I could get an ice pack for it too.â
as if he couldnât have made things worse, he did ( then again, that was the one thing gold was good at doing ). he had completely failed in flirting with her, not to mention he snapped at her for asking a simple question. he didnât even need to get defensive since it wasnât his fault! not to mention, it wasnât as if she could do anything, either. patient-doctor privacy law or ... something like that ... he tended to avoid doctors ( even convincing his mom, when he lived with her, that his first aid was top-notch, so he only needed to go to the doctors for vaccinations ).
taking the ice pack from her hand, he sighed with exasperation. heâd pretty much given in by now, so he complied, placing it on his nose.Â
â right, right ... thanks. â gold had been pretty rude to her, considering she was only a volunteer and was doing what she was told. â my ankleâs fine. i just need to rest it for a couple days, yeah? â
not like the doctor was going to be there anytime soon to inform him of that.
"Lend me $500?"
   â i can lend you $500 in love. â
"Do you have a jacket I can borrow?"
â hm? â it wasnât as if he had a spare jacket or anything. was she asking for his specifically? she didnât seem like she was that type. he wondered if she would be offended if he gave her his jacket. he didnât have a problem with it, though -- it wasnât as if either of them had a choice.
    â yeah, here. â
he slipped off his jacket, draping it on her shoulders.
Ask my muse for a favor:
"I need a place to spend the night."
"Can I come over and use your shower?"
"I need you to buy me a pregnancy test."
"Will you come bail me out of jail?"
"My basement flooded, wanna lend me a hand cleaning up?"
"Can you come over and help me study for this test?"
"Pick me up something to eat on your way over?"
"I need a ride to work tomorrow."
"Help me clean my house?"
"Can you watch my dog for me this weekend?"
"Do you have a jacket I can borrow?
"I need some condoms and a leaf-blower, can you bring them over ASAP?"
"I need you to be my date this Friday night."
"Can you come pick me up?"
"Lend me $500?"
"Can I borrow your car?"
âU-Um⊠thank you.â Sakura blinked at him, unsure of what to make of him. He kind of reminded her of someone she knew⊠â⊠I⊠I think.â She added on a few seconds later, scrunching up of her nose with confusion.
âYouâYou canât!â She answered, stunned that he would even suggest doing so. The prospect of him trying to skip out on getting treatment offended her more than the inappropriate comment itself. âI-If you leave before they clear you, you can end up doing more damage to your ankle.â Her cheeks were well on their way to picking up a rosy color once again, and she turned away from him to wash and dry her hands.
Letting out a tiny sigh, she approached him and raised her hands, making it clear to him that she was intending to touch him. Soft fingertips barely grazed his chin to tip it up at a slight angle, allowing her to inspect the injured nose in question. He said it was fine, but she wanted to make sure. âYouâre lucky itâs not broken.â Sakura murmured, frowning slightly. Punched in the face, he said. âH-How did you get into a fight anyway?â
well, he certainly hadnât expected that. this girl was around his age and she was reminding him of his mom! sure, she worked at the hospital and it was her job to be concerned, but still ... it was more than a little off-putting to his demeanor.
he fully intended not to flinch, and he in that he was successful. however, he was too late to hold back the hiss just from the touch. at least it wasnât broken. just painfully, annoyingly bruised, it seemed.
â yeah, yeah, â he huffed, turning his head to the side. this was why he hated doctors. too intrusive, too concerned, too...much. maybe it was necessary for her to know how exactly he got punched, or which way he twisted his ankle to cause the sprain, but how he got into the fight in the first place? was that really necessary?Â
â i was provoked -- i swear, i was just defending myself! â gold put his hands up defensively, somewhat akin to a criminal being caught in the crime. he really did feel like he was talking to his mom. suddenly, the prospect of sneaking out to grab dinner wasnât so appetizing.Â
Kyoko had the day off today, well, by day off, she wasnât going to class today despite Sayaka being totally annoying about it. Not wanting to hear her roommate constantly bitch about her skipping, Kyoko decided to go out to Little Italy, her stomach needing to be filled.
Kyoko was looking around, seeing what appealed to her, when a complete moron decided to not pay attention to where he was going on his skateboard and run her over.
âOi! Fucking asshole! You mind watching where youâre going!?â
Kyoko was on her ass, in public, with some tool trying to apologize with free food- waitâŠfree food?
âYou better have a thick wallet Tool, because Kyoko Sakura doesnât do just a little lunch.â
more than a bit put off by the attitude ( although it was understandable, considering sheâd been toppled to the ground ), it took gold a beat to get back to his usual composure, waving a hand dismissively at her commentary.
â of course! anything for a pretty lady, â he said, flashing a grin. perhaps it was a bit too obnoxious. oh, well. kicking his skateboard up to catch it, he continued with a wink.
â anything in particular you like? as i said, anything is on me. â Â
she had been heading to the grocery store when she felt an arm wrap around her.  at first,  she was completely ready to sock whoever this was in the face.   after all,   who just wraps an arm around a lady?  though,  she stopped herself when she noticed who it was.  it was silverâs roommate,  her next door neighbor.  now,  was that an excuse to do it?  no.  but,  she enjoyed talking to silver and if silver was his friend,  he couldnât be so bad.Â
that didnât keep her from having a bit of a confused expression on her face.  she did try to smile though,  not wanting to give him the wrong impression that she was anti-social or something.Â
â oh hey⊠ it was gold,   right?  well,  iâm heading to the store so i have as long as it takes me to get there! â
he couldnât tell if that was an excuse to get away from him or not ( then again, what kind of date was a grocery store date? ), but he didnât have time to dwell on it. he was on a mission!Â
looking at her, he took in a breath, ready to get on with it.
... what was his mission again?
he felt his heart sink momentarily. if all his build up lead to this, he would look like an even bigger idiot! time was of the essence here -- if he didnât say anything, he would seem like a fool, and if he said something foolish, well...that was normal of him. but! that wasnât the point!
â -- right, right! â he started, stalling with a response to her initial response. â so -- about that silver guy -- â
his usual go-to conversation topic set off a light bulb in his mind. ( thatâs right! silver! that jerk who never told him about the cute girl living next door! the jerk who had already met her! )
â how long have you known him? heâs a pretty interesting guy, right? â
wait, what was he doing? was he too used to trying to set him up with people that he didnât know how to shit talk him anymore?
and since when was silver competition?
