Happy June and happy Pride, everyone! If there's any month where I actually make my announcement post on time, this is the one to do it - next Saturday (June 6th) will be the first Saturday of a new month, which means it's time for another art party hosted by my guild, [VS] Verdant Shield!
For those not familiar, art parties are a concept carried over from Final Fantasy XIV: in-game get-togethers for artists of all kinds to hang out, chat, and create together! For GW2 parties there’s more of an emphasis on hanging out and gathering references during the party itself, and then in the days/weeks following to work on your creations at your own pace and then post to the shared art party tag. We’ve used the same one (#VSArtParty) since the very beginning so you can go allll the way back and explore what people have made! The most important thing to keep in mind though is this: the ‘goal’ of an art party isn’t to be drawn, but to draw others, and share with the community!
Time and /squadjoin information is below the cut, but will also be posted again on the day of the party as squads go up!
Location Information:
I've decided to make the Lion's Arch Gate in Gendarran Fields the Official June/Pride Party Location™, since it's a spot that Tyria Pride marchers have passed through every year, and will pass through again later this month during the event! It's super easy to get to via either the literally-right-there Cornucopian Fields Waypoint, or by walking north out of Lion's Arch (Trader's Forum Waypoint would be closest)!
Time & Squad Details:
As always, there’ll be two parties - the first one on EU servers and the second on NA ones - with an hour break in between!
The EU server party will begin at 9pm Central European Summer Time (aka 3pm Eastern Daylight Time or 5 hours before in-game reset). I’ll be hosting this one on my EU alt account, so please either /whisper or /squadjoin Paranomalous Plexxi for a taxi invite if you don’t end up on the right map!
The NA server party will begin 1 hour after the EU party’s official end, at 7pm Eastern Daylight Time (aka 1am Central European Summer Time or 1 hour before in-game reset). I’ll be on my main account for this one, so please /whisper or /squadjoin Kirslyn for a taxi invite if you don’t see my customary white cat tag hanging around on your map!

You of course aren't obligated to change up your outfit for the festivities, but feel free to do so (or bring any of those Pride-themed cryptids I've seen lurking out there) if you feel like it! i think another thing people don't really think about Braham is like, i think the fact he is like 18-19 dealing with his mom being violently murdered in front of him that i think almost any Norn would've crashed out at the Jormag news.
"Hey, Braham- you know how Jormag is the ancestral archenemy of your entire race that has inflicted a form of generational trauma onto every single living Norn by breaking your entire race's pride like Bane did to Batman's back? And how you're prophesized to destroy Jormag and we've killed two Elder Dragons? How we have the capability to do this? Well, we've actually decided we're not going to kill Jormag."
like it's not enough Braham is like 18-20 during LWS3 dealing with a traumatic death he also had to kinda process that. i think anyone would crash the fuck out even without their mom's death at that one. if the dialogue wasn't written to be neutral across all races i'm sure a Norn Commander even though accepting it probably would have a LOT of thoughts about it. that alone honestly justified his LWS3 crashout even without Eir's death but WITH it too? the death of his mother and also the Norn's collective trauma and essentially being told "there is absolutely nothing you can do about either. we will lull Jormag to sleep indefinitely and never allow the Norn to claim victory over their archenemy and you will never be able to prove you are worthy of fighting dragons like your mother was." raven's fucking beak.

This challenge is so fun, and I hope nobody minds that I cheated a bit and included both my commander and my husband’s since we play together.
Marilyn, my human thief, has decided Glaw gives her a great place to scout around, while Siamanta, my husband’s ele, tries to force some common sense inside her head.

To celebrate, I'd like to show a rough practice animation of Trahearne and Malyck I've been drawing on the side. I have to emphasize this isn't polished - I started this to try and learn more about 2d animating. But hopefully you are a little amused by it. ;p
The first two clips are from the same progress step, the second is with only the lines. The third is an earlier draft of most of the "keyframes," before later experimenting with the timing and drawing the in-between frames.
psa.. they stealth added nice glasses w/ dyeable lenses into the wizard vault but it doesn't advertise it. just buy the weird beach wizard hat and you get them for free
they default to extremely dark on most colors, but dyes that 'pitch up' like the electro and glint dyes will give you neon or transparent lenses 👍
