once you realize you don’t actually need to sleep, you can really (stops talking abruptly and stares straight ahead for 4 minutes)
there should be a term for characters you personally don't care about but you defend them anyways because the way people treat them is really uncomfortable. like ok this is a very middle-of-the-road character for me but the fandom's either been super misogynistic, racist, etc. about them or harassed innocent people who try to genuinely explore that character warts and all, and i find that more annoying than the actual character.
the term should by 'my client', like you're a lawyer defending your client that you are completely indifferent to but you are obligated by your job (or your morals) to defend
i'll never not be drawn to the existential horror of angels as beings without free will, incapable of doubt or refusal, and how attempting to "free" them from that state which seems so unfairly cruel from our perspective necessarily requires destroying them on a fundamental level and condemning them to an eternity of suffering. how a halo is a perfect closed loop which interrupting would render no longer a halo but something else, irregular and jagged.
an angel is a beautiful terrifying horse that will break all of its legs attempting to comprehend nuance
female-presenting vitruvian
i appreciate the amount of people reblogging this despite me not really tagging this at all. im glad many of people feel the same anger i do.
Girl I was scrolling through your blog and I had to google "shane dawson" and "pewdiepie" back to back who are these people 😭
you might be the only pure soul left
Cuddling into bed with new oc scenerio to imagine before bed is like when your favorite youtuber posts a new hour long video for you to eat dinner with. Good feeling the both of them
you solve the mystery of what to have for dinner one night and you think "hell yeah case closed forever" WRONG there is a dinner mystery the next night too
the version of you from five years ago would be genuinely amazed by what you’ve handled since then. sit with that for a second
The thing about radical kindness (or any kindness, for that matter) is that there are going to be times when someone or something makes you regret it. There are going to be times when you show someone empathy and grace that they don't "deserve". There are going to be times when someone takes that kindness and uses it against you. The world doesn't magically transform into a perfect place when you decide to choose kindness and people will take advantage of it. People will continue to be shitty.
But the thing is...that's not a flaw of kindness. That's not a you problem. That's a them problem. People who are happy with themselves and their lives don't go out of their way to misuse someone's kindness or grace. The "normal" response to kindness or empathy is not to find a way to exploit it. People who are happy with themselves don't look for ways to hurt people for no reason. Kindness will never be the problem. No matter what some shitty person decides to do with it. It should go without saying not to be a doormat, yes. Don't allow people to treat you badly just for the sake of being kind. But also don't let shitty people make you bitter because of how they treated you when you were kind.
i think the most beautiful thing about being a human is the capacity to change

not nearly enough people talking about the way grace betrayed stratt too if you ask me. and tbf i get it, bc the implication is less overt (at least in the movie? still haven't read the book) but it's sooo much more interesting to me than the way she betrayed him.
bc like the way i see it she really did not need to pretend grace had a choice. those 3 hours she gave him were meaningless as far as the project itself and the fate of the world were concerned. and yes, it was in the hopes that he would come around on his own, but i don't think that was for grace's benefit. if anything, it probably would have been less painful for him if he'd never thought he had a say.
stratt wasn't asking for his consent, she knew it never mattered anyway. she was asking him to take some of the weight of his own death off her conscience, and he said no. no, i won't make the hard call for you just this once, not even with the whole world on the line. no, i won't acknowledge that you never had a choice either. no, i will not absolve you of the one sin it's in my power to forgive. that's gotta sting, even if she wasn't really expecting him to say yes, or even to recognize those 3 hours for what they were. she probably wasn't. she knows a long shot when she takes one.
