firebird — firebirds r like phoenixes from daevite culture (low register: payakoj; high register: vehreg) n they’re from the sukni and the firebird myth which is a daevite slave tale, pretty self explanatory
new beginnings — title track, i named it this because that’s kind of a more positive spin on the actual word hzafya, which is a daevite word meaning change resulting from devastation
u.n.i — uni as in university because the irankush movement that abolished slavery was primarily university and highschool-aged protestors, also because it’s the first track in their EP summer break so it’s like school is just getting out and then it’s summer break…. do u get it.. and there’s a play on words in this one too — if you spell out “uni” it’s like you’re saying YOU AND I…. YOU AND I having fun during SUMMER BREAK.. r u listening…
kiss n tell — i saw a video abt an aespa comeback called kiss n tell and i was Feeling Inspired… just based on that phrase don’t kiss and tell idk i was just bullshitting w this one
here and now — maixe & laot if it was more fun, primarily english lyrics and just a remix of maixe & laot basically kinda like a reprise, usually during tours maixe & laot would be the entrance song and here and now would be the last
beaches — named after the beabadoobee song….just cause like summer
xokau — waves in daevite, like an extended version of beaches like it’s pretty much the same song there’s like a transition in between them and everything
daiquiri — i was #Thirsty coming up with this one, it’s just summery idk
xo xokib — xokib means hope in daevite its from dust & blood (rip djoricverse sk tales you will be missed) it’s the seal for the seventh bride. also self explanatory because like hope because they’ve been emancipated whateverrr plus it’s a reference to their religion and people just love a religious metaphor. also play on words (???) because like xokib starts with xo so it’s like hugs and kisses hope
kao — it just means river in daevite i thought it sounded pretty idk
kifenn — this was their last song as hzafya and it means longing, they gained more agency of their songs as time went on and this was the only song they had almost full control over the direction of this song and by then they knew they’d be disbanding, it was like a final warning to the fans that they’d be LONGING for more AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA GET IT
dajwas — daevite word referencing the sky or a sky god, since skanda means apotheosis i thought referencing a god would be smart
king priest — references the king priest harappan statue (technically the english translation is priest king but i heard in urdu i think it was conjugated as king priest? i forgot) cus my ion is half pakistani. priest because the EP name is apotheosis
