An Estimated 500MW Power Supply in Western Visayas in the Next Five Years
Palm Concepcion Power Corp of the A Brown and Co is putting up a 135MW coal-fired in Concepcion, Iloilo. Construction is on-going. The project costs P12.5B, and is expected to be finished by 2016.
Panay Electric Development Corp of Global Business Power Corp will put up a 150MW coal-fired power plant at Bgy Ingore, La Paz, Iloilo City. Construction will start in Oct 2013, and will be finished in 33 months. The project costs P6.2B.
The Phase II of the Jalaur River Multi-Purpose Project in Calinog, Iloilo includes the construction of a 6.6MW hydro-electric power plant. Construction is on-going. The whole multi-purpose project costs P11.2B.
A group of German investors are planning to put up three biomass power plants in Negros Occidental: a 20MW in San Carlos City; 30MW in EB Magalona or Victorias City; and a 35MW in Bago City or La Carlota City. The investors have presented their proposal with Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. The three projects cost around $500M or P22B.
The Sun West Water and Electric Co is putting up two hydro-electric power plants in Bugasong, Antique with combined output of 17MW. Both plants are under construction. The 8MW Villasiga I hydro-electric facility will begin operating in Dec 2013, while the 9.4M Villasiga II will operate in 2017. The two projects cost P3.6B.
PetroEnergy Resources Corp will put up a 50MW wind farm in Nabas, Aklan. Construction will start this year along the coastline of Nabas facing the Sibuyan Sea and overlooking Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan, and will be operational by 2014.
Trans-Asia Renewable Energy Corp will put up a 54MW wind farm in San Lorenzo, Guimaras. Construction will start this year along the coastline of San Lorenzo facing the Mindanao Sea, and will be operational by 2014. The project costs P6.3B.
In the next five years, an estimated 500MW of additional power supply will be made available to meet the power demands in Western Visayas. Total costs for these projects is P63B.
