This is a blog for posting spoilers for Outer Wilds, containing serious spoilers for Outer Wilds basegame and DLC. Please access only if you have completed the game.
This screenshot was taken the day I finished Echoes of the Eye (first uploaded in 2021 / *Adjusted image brightness)
Coincidentally, to me it looked like he or she was smiling😢
This is The Stranger inhabitant who happened to be photographed with a funny expression.
This post is about the latest updates to my Outer Wilds fan site. (As a pilot project)
🔗No - Impressive Dialogues and Translations
In this post, titled "Impressive Dialogues and Translations", I wrote an article comparing the translated Japanese text of the game with the original English text and what I found particularly interesting. Due to the length of the article, only a portion of it is presented in this post. All the content can be found at the link.
The phrase "Give me the dirt" in the conversation with Tuff was unfamiliar to me (I am 99% Japanese speaker).
Gabbro "You know, I kind of wish I’d built a hammock here before we ended up in this time loop."
The dialogue where Gabbro talks about their hammocks is a bit vaguely translated in the Japanese version. Therefore I did not know they rebuild their hammock every time.
Feldspar "Hornfels would have my very handsome head if they knew I’d been riding the cyclones again."
I chuckled when I learned that in the dialogue when reporting to Feldspar about the secret of the tornado, Feldspar described their own faces as "handsome". This text is also a safe translation in the Japanese version.
I find it amusing that the slightly cynical Cassava described Avens and Mallow as "gooey". The Japanese English dictionary also lists "gooey" as one of the words used to describe the stickiness of natto.
Pye's phrase "I'm a gas" was also new to me. I wonder if she chose this phrase to allude to the gas explosion, since they were talking about an explosion.
This is an illustration of the column at the end of the text of my article. In the game, all Nomai words are displayed through a translation tool. This means that the names of planets, etc. are all replaced by the Hearthian language. It occurred to me that it is possible that the Nomai language does not use names like "Brittle Hollow" or "Timber Hearth" but names of a completely different origin.
Since the inhabitants of The Stranger showed no interest in the game's star systems, they may not have given their planets unique names. However, I could not rule out the possibility that some of the inhabitants personally (as their own secret) referred to certain planets by special names.
These images were published by me to the Twitter community in 2022, but I am uploading them here because I have stopped using Twitter.
My hypothesis about simulated reality
(Partial translation of the summary)
Page 1
The technology used in the vision torch is capable of storing and replaying the appearance and memories of scanned objects. Simulated reality is an application of this technology.
When a user "login" to the simulated reality, a fire in the center of the room scans the user and creates an avatar with the user's memories and appearance. This avatar does not disappear even if the real user dies. This is why the Stranger's inhabitants continue to exist in the simulated reality even after their death.
The green fire of the artifact is the same green light that makes the vision in the vision torch visible to the user. This is why the user "logout" of the simulated reality when the artifact fire is extinguished.
The green fire in the circular room is the same as the green light for scanning in the vision torch. As evidence, if a player dies outside the range of the scan, they cannot log in to the simulated reality.

The ship logs remain while the protagonist is dead because Nomai's technology is so superior; Nomai's memory system is capable of storing multiple data formats.

Simulated reality does not allow jetpacks or flashlights. Perhaps complex machines cannot be scanned and reproduced. (Probably so to counteract bugs)
It is presumed that the reason the avatars wake up when they are damaged in simulated reality is because the reproduced avatars also have a sense of pain. It is to recreate a sense of reality for them. It is not for the convenience of the game.

All of the above is my speculation. Please do not believe them.
