Indeed people are the servants of world & the religion is (like) saliva upon their tongues, they churn it around their tongues till they are living. And when they are faced with a test, the religious ones are only rare

The one who lacked & missed you what did he find? And what is it that he lacks, the one who finds you? Certainly, the one who got pleased & inclined toward other than you, came to nothingness (failed)

الموتُ خيرٌ من رُكُوبِ العارِ
والعارُ أولى من دُخُولِ النارِ
واللّهِ ما هذا وهذا جاري
Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) said, 'Death with dignity is better than living with disgrace', and articulated the following couplet on the day he was martyred:
‘Death is better than embarking on (a life of) indignity
And indignity is preferable over plunging into the Fire.’
lit. 'embarking on a bare backed horse' (ed.), Bihar al-Anwar, v. 44, p. 192, no. 4
الإمامُ الحسينُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : إنّ أوْصَلَ النّاسِ مَن وَصَلَ مَن قَطَعَهُ
Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) said, ‘The best person is the one who maintains relations with one who cuts him off.’
—Bihar al-Anwar, v. 78, p. 121, no. 4
لا وَاللّهِ لا أُعْطِيهِمْ بِيَدِيْ إعْطَاءَ الدَّليلِ وَ لا أَفِرُّ فِرارَ الْعَبِيْد... إنِّىْ لا أَرَىَ الْمَوْتَ إلاّ سَعادَةً و الحَياةَ مَعَ الظّالِمِينَ إلاّ بَرَما
Imam Husayn (a.s.) said:
I swear by God that I shall never join hands with them like those humbled, nor escape like the slaves. I consider death as nothing but prosperity, and life with the unjust as nothing but a source of blame and misfortune

Imam Ali (a.s.) said, ‘Truthfulness saves you even though you fear it whereas lying ruins you even though you feel safe from it.’

وأما حق جارك فحفظه غائبا وإكرامه شاهدا ونصرته إذا كان مظلوما، ولا تتبع له عورة، فإن علمت عليه سوءا سترته عليه، وإن علمت أنه يقبل نصيحتك نصحته فيما بينك وبينه، ولا تسلمه عند شديدة، وتقيل عثرته، وتغفر ذنبه، وَتُعَاشِرَهُ مُعَاشَرَةً كَرِيمَةً. وَلا قُوَّةَ إلا باللهِ
The right of your neighbour (jar) is that you guard him when he is absent, honour him when he is present, and aid him when he is wronged. You do not pursue anything of his that is shameful; if you know of any evil from him, you conceal it. If you know that he will accept your counsel, you counsel him in that which is between him and you. You do not forsake him in difficulty, you release him from his stumble, you forgive his sin, and you associate with him generously. And there is no strength save in God

الإمامُ عليٌّ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): العِلمُ بِلا عَمَلٍ وَبالٌ ، العَمَلُ بِلا عِلمٍ ضَلالٌ
Imam Ali (a.s.) said, ‘Knowledge without action is a curse, and action without knowledge is straying in error.’

الإمامُ الحسينُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ) : ألا إنَّ الحَربَ شَرُّها ذَريعٌ ، وطَعْمُها فَظيعٌ ، فمَن أخَذَ لَها اُهْبَتَها ، واسْتَعدَّ لَها عُدَّتَها ، ولَم يألَمْ كُلومَها قَبلَ حُلولِها ، فذاكَ صاحِبُها ، ومَن عاجَلَها قَبلَ أوانِ فُرْصَتِها ، واسْتِبْصارِ سَعيهِ فيها ، فذاكَ قَمِنٌ ألاّ يَنْفَعَ قَومَهُ ، وأنْ يُهْلِكَ نَفْسَهُ
Imam al-Husayn (a.s.) said, ‘Know that the evil of war is swift, and its taste is bitter. Therefore, he who prepares for it, and sees to its requirements, and does not suffer its wounds before its onset, he is its master; but he who plunges into it before its proper time and before gaining insight into his own effort therein, he is fit not to benefit his people and to ruin himself.’

الإمامُ الحسينُ (عَلَيهِ الّسَلامُ): إنَّ أعفَى النّاسِ مَن عَفا عِندَ قُدرَتِهِ

عليٌ بن إبراهيم, عن أبيه, عن ابن أبي عمير, عن يونس ]بن عبد الرحمن [عن أبي يعقوب إسحاق بن عبد الله, عن أبي عبد الله عليه السلام قال: إنً الله خصً عباده بايتين من كتابه: أن لا يقولوا حتّى يعلموا و لا يردٌوا مالم يعلموا و قال عزّ و جلّ: " ألَمْ يُؤْخَذْ عَلَيْهِمْ مِيثَاقُ الْكِتَابِ أَنْ لَا يَقُولُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْحَقَّ" و قال: " بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِمَا لَمْ يُحِيطُواْ بِعِلْمِهِ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِهِمْ تَأْوِيلُهُ"
`Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi `Umayr, from Yunus,32 from Abu Ya'qub Ishaq ibn `Abd Allah:33
Abu `Abd Allah (A) said: "God has specified (the limits of the duty of) His creatures by two verses from His Book: That they speak not until they know and that they reject not what they don't know. The Almighty has said:
`Has not the compact of the Book been taken touching them, that they should say concerning God nothing but the truth?' (7:169)
And He has said:
`No; but they belied that which they encompassed not in knowledge, and whose interpretation has not yet come to them."' (10:39)
