So, there I was, doing some fic research, meaning rereading a paragraph or two from the books to jostle my memory of something, and I ended up in Battle Ground somehow, and now I have regrets, and feelings, and I'm sitting here thinking that what happened to Karrin actually happened, and what if that's it, that's really the end? I'm heartbroken over Karrin and Harry, and I'm imagining a million flashbacks for him to have in the next book (which he better does!)

I'm also thinking, thank god for Jared Kincaid, because it is obvious that he was looking out for her in his own way, because clearly he hooked her up with weapons and probably techniques of combat and actually helped her become an even better fighter, and now that I think about it he probably was part of the reasons why she made it as far as she did.

So, also having Karrin/Kincaid feelings today, and one day I really should write more about them and their love story.

I'm yearning for Kincaid and Harry to meet post Battle Ground actually.

You know when you're in one of those moods where you either need super happy fic or super dramatic fic, lol.

I need Chris McGrath (the illustrator for the Dresden Files covers) to paint his version of Karrin Murphy... Jim, we need the next short story to be from her POV, damnit!!

That way I can photoshop them together later and make a mock cover of the books.

Or better yet, you know what needs to happen? To make up for the shitty things Butcher has done to both Harry and especially my precious Murphy, the book immediately after she comes back (because she will, in a blaze of glory, at the last minute, to save Harry's ass probably, and we will get to see him falling in love with her all over again) needs to come with a different cover, breaking the usual format and it's Harry and Murph together, with an appropriate two word title (that I can't think of right now).

And all the reddit dude bros will cry tears of blood and that one person I hate so much from the official forum (and that totally ruined it imo) will throw a fit. And I'll sit and laugh, and actually enjoy how much I was right about where this series should go.

Look I just a need an official story with an official cover portraying Karrin Murphy.

That's it. That's my contribution to the fandom today, lol.

Cursed Dresden Files thought that won't leave me alone today:

Kringle showed up to see Harry on Christmas Eve.

Kringle, who Harry knows is also sometimes Odin.

Odin, who he knows has Murphy in his care.

And I can't help but wonder if, for just a second, when Kringle said he had a gift for him, Harry had hope that it might be a someone and not a something. Especially given that he was already grieving throughout the night.

And the gift he got was lovely, and sweet, and one of the scenes that's hit me the hardest in the series, and I know Harry was grateful.

But I can't help but wonder if he was also just a little disappointed.

You ever ship characters but only in a subtextual way. Like no I do not actually want them to kiss at all and in fact they’re probably pretty terrible for each other but I do think all of their interactions are laden with an unspoken homoeroticism neither party wants to think about or will ever openly acknowledge.

Harry Dresden literally zones out staring at John Marcone’s biceps to the point Marcone has to CALL HIM OUT ON IT and he has the audacity to imagine he is straight.  

Everyone was like “holy crap, that moment in the trailer is super, super gay” but MY FRIENDS. I HAD TO TONE DOWN THE GAYNESS OF THE SCENE SO IT DIDN’T DISTRACT FROM THE PLOT OF THE TRAILER. 

Bisexual Disaster Harry Dresden is canon, as far as I’m concerned.  He’s just too much of a Bisexual Disaster to realize it.
