Something I love abt Minori is that u can make her ANY minority group and it would add SO much to her story. The idea of her getting rejected OVER 50 TIMES? Theres so much that can be expanded on just by making her stand out just a tad.
Make Minori lesbian/sapphic/queer in general? Then its the story of a queer girl finding acceptance in an industry that finds people like her "weird" and "unnatural". Dating scandals, homophobia in both audiences and management, the list goes on. So Minori finding acceptance in MMJ makes this such a sweet storyline!
Make Minori transgender? Then its the story of a trans girl being rejected by the industry bc she doesnt fit into what they deem as a "true girl". Her voice is "too deep", she doesnt "look like them", she doesnt have their experiance. All excuses the industry could make. Its the story of Minori finding acceptance in other girls who DO see her as just as much of a girl as they are. Beautiful girlhood story, 10/10 🥹🫶
Make Minori black/blasian? Then its the story of a black girl reaching her dream in an industry that constantly appropriates and mistreats her people and culture. They see her skintone as "unnatural"; consistent racism painted as "coincidences". At most if she DOES land a spot shes just a diversity hire at that point. Minoris plotline becomes a tale of someone finding love and a group that treats her just like any other idol. Shes always cute, funny, and beloved regardless of her race. LOVE LOVE LOVEEE
Make Minori neurodivergent? Then it becomes the story of a girl who was always judged finding her place in a society that doesnt accept her. Every fumble of the bag, every misunderstood social cue, they all made Minori self conscious of her natural clumsiness even more. Why would any industry want an idol who just cant function like anyone else? Minori then turns into a character who, because of MMJ, is able to just be herself free of judgement. ABSOLUTE CINEMA.
